The APS is proud to join psychology and consumer agencies across the country to call for an immediate increase on the 10 Medicare-rebated session limit.

Cost remains the number one barrier faced by Australians accessing psychological services. Each year, thousands of people reach breaking point in the second half of the year as their 10 Medicare-rebated sessions are used.

Since Medicare-rebated psychology sessions were cut from 20 to 10 by the Federal Government in 2022, we have consistently advocated for reinstating 20 sessions for people who are at risk or experiencing complex mental health issues, and will continue to push for this much-needed change.

It's time for the government to act.

Less than a week to go! Don’t miss your chance to register for Past, Present, Future: Female Presidents of the APS.

The NSW College of Clinical Psychologists is excited to present Past, Present, Future: Female Presidents of the APS.
Whilst the APS has historically had male Presidents, recent times have seen several female leaders emerge. This forum, facilitated by Diane Whiting, will provide an opportunity to hear from our past, present and future female Presidents of the APS to develop an understanding of their motivations in taking up the Presidential position, the challenges they have experienced in the role and their thoughts and insights on the future of our professional society. All participants will have an opportunity to ask searching questions. If you decide to attend in person, you will also have the opportunity to meet these fabulous leaders of our professional society.

Dear Clinical Colleagues

It is with a sense of great sadness I inform you, that for medical reasons, I will be immediately stepping down as Chair of the National College of Clinical Psychologists (CCLP), after approximately 1 year in this role and approximately 10 years in voluntary roles for the CCLP. I have always endeavoured to do my best in these positions to compassionately serve Fellows of the College, advocate on their behalf, and to "give back" to the profession we all love. I sincerely hope I have met those needs and that you are pleased with my performance.

My position as Chair will be immediately succeeded by the very competent Dr David Preece who has now worked on the National CCLP committee for a number of years. He will also be assisted by two Deputy Chairs Ms Jillian Harrington and Dr Mary Gregory. David Preece will provide a follow-up email to all Fellows of the College in due course and he is willing for you to contact him as required at: drdavidpreece.cclp@outlook.com

It has been an honour to serve the Fellows of the CCLP across Australia and to work with such a consummate group of volunteering professionals on the National CCLP Committee. Hopefully, in future, there will be other ways I can contribute to our great profession.

Wishing the National CCLP committee and all CCLP Fellows all the best into the future.

Kindest of Regards,

Dr Angelo Contarino FAPS FCCLP
Clinical Psychologist
Chair National CCLP
