Happy Autumn Equinox 🍂🍁
The equinox is a gentle reminder of balance in nature, with day and night, light and dark, all finding their equal place. It's a perfect moment to reflect on that balance within ourselves. Through our yoga practice, we can invite that same sense of harmony into our lives. The stillness, the breath, the steady movement – each part of our practice helps us find alignment and peace, much like the rhythm of the earth around us.
In poses like Vrksasana, or Tree Pose, we press (or root!) down through the soles of our feet whilst lifting the spine and reaching upwards with our hands. This rootedness in the feet, combined with the lift of the torso, mirrors the balance between earth and sky, grounding us while allowing us to reach outward, reflecting the harmony and balance we seek in our lives, both on and off the mat.
This photo is from last January. Today, my practise looked like being in nature as I walked around the lake with my pup, connecting to others and the world around me - and then a restorative practise in a clean space before teaching a class. How will you make space for balance in your day?
