Disability Support Workers
Casual
Your primary role will be providing person-centered support to our NDIS participants within their home or out in the community. This can include assisting with daily living activities, providing domestic assistance, as well as personal care, transport, and other aspects of daily living as specified by their NDIS plan. If you are a person with a kind, patient and empathetic nature, and willing to provide your utmost care, carrying a positive can-do attitude; then this role could be a match for you.
Current support ratios include 2:1, 1:1, 1:2, 1:3 or 1:4. The successful applicant would be provided with the induction, on-the-job mentoring and will be given time to familiarise with our client before getting rostered.
The successful candidate will be required to undertake a range of daily support tasks, which may include:
• Support in community participation programs
• Transportation of clients to community
• Support with assistive technology
• Social and community support
• Showering assistance
• Manual handling including hoist transfers – manual, electric / assisted standing
• Dressing assistance and hygiene needs
• Bowel and continence support
• Medication assistance
• Meal preparation
• Management of challenging behaviours and application of Behavioural Management Plan and Restrictive Practice when applicable.
• Report completion including incident, progress notes, shifts handovers
The successful candidate will have:
• Maximum availability and willingness to do sleep overs / active nights
• Demonstrated manual handling experience
• Demonstrated experience with personal care
• Experience in working with people with high medical needs and intellectual disabilities
• Application of Restrictive intervention practice and management of behavioural challenges using behavioural management plans
• The ability to develop strong relationships with clients and other stakeholders
Mandatory Requirements include:
• Minimum of Certificate III or IV in Disability/Aged Care, or equivalent
• Current First Aid level 2 Certificate
• Current CPR (annual)
• Manual handling (preferred)
• Administration of medication (Desirable but not essential)
• Ability to provide support to client with behavioural challenges
• Understanding of restrictive practice and behavioural management plans
• National Police Check
• Current Working with Children’s Check (WWCC) or willingness to obtain
• Current Australian Driver’s License
• Own vehicle with comprehensive car insurance (preferred but not essential)
