Dry needling and acupuncture both use fine needles, but they are not the same.

Dry needling
- Generally focuses on the affected area, often targeting muscle trigger points
- Uses a Western anatomy-based approach

Acupuncture
- Takes a holistic approach, aiming to balance the whole person
- Works with the meridian system, often described as supporting the flow of Qi
- In Australia, acupuncturists complete a minimum of four years of study and are registered with the Chinese Medicine Board of Australia (CMBA)
