Here is your friendly reminder to not take everything so seriously πŸ₯³

Our aim at Trunk Studios is to create a fun environment where you don't feel like you need to look a certain way to feel comfortable in our community. To embrace that you won't be perfect in your first class, but instead, feel ok to laugh at yourself if you do muck up or lose balance when doing a pose. To know that with time, consistency and being open to feedback from your teachers, you will progress over time in each class you take.

No one is perfect, but we do believe that our community has been built upon acceptance, inclusivity and support ❀️

Let's talk a little bit about setting new years resolutions ✨ What do you think of when it comes to resolutions? 🧐 Weight loss? Join a gym? Start a new diet?
.. us too πŸ™ƒ

Have you set the same New Years resolution for yourself a few times but never achieved it? 😏 We get it! It can be scary, deflating and overwhelming... half the time, we start for a couple of weeks and then end up falling off the bandwagon!

That's why this year, we want to give you a whole new perspective on setting resolutions! πŸ€—

How about you find one overall aspect of your life that needs to be improved and set out the intention to make it better? 🧐 This could be something such as improving your quality of sleep, making more time for yourself or even just regularly showing up to your classes ✨

From there, once a week, you sit down and think about how you can set micro-goals to improve this area. For example, if you're looking to get more quality sleep, it could be you don't touch your phone 1 hour before you go to sleep, or if it's showing up to your classes, you fit them into your schedule so you can plan your days to work around it ✨

What a year it has been! πŸ’« Safe to say, we're glad 2021 is done and dusted!

Before we kick into another year, I would really like to acknowledge every single one of you who make up our incredible community. Thank you all so much for sticking by us and embracing all of the pivots we've had to make over the last 12 month. Thank you for being loyal to our community and still showing up despite everything that has happened. Our doors wouldn't have been able to reopen in October if it wasn't for every single one of you πŸ’›

Secondly, I want to thank our teachers; you are all amazing. I am so incredibly grateful for the energy you bring to every class and for having a team that is so passionate about the community we are creating. I wouldn't be able to do any of this without any of you.

Even though it was challenging, we are genuinely proud of all of you and the community we have built.

Unsure of the difference between Yoga and Pilates? 🧐

Whilst both are slow bodyweight movements done in high reps, they both have different benefits on the body ✨

One of the main differences between Yoga and Pilates is that Yoga can be used to improve the flexibility of the body and gradually increase the flexibility of your joints. In comparison, Pilates focuses on relaxing muscles that are tense and provide strengthening of the numerous muscles of the body πŸ™ŒπŸ»

Whilst the Bridge might look like a simple exercise, you'll feel those muscles the next day πŸ‘ This exercise doesn't just strengthen your core; it also targets other muscles, including:

✨ Biceps
✨ Hamstrings
✨ Inner Thighs
✨ Glutes

Typically, this exercise is included in our Mat Pilates and Barre classes. The movement is either done as a hold or in up and down motions (of if your teacher wants to really challenge you, both), all whilst squeezing your glutes and abdominal areas πŸ”₯
