Do you actually know when you ovulate?
Spoiler alert = most don’t.
And no.. your tracking app doesn’t know either.
Those apps use algorithms based on ‘average’ cycles. You are not average.
You are a human with your own hormones that shift + respond differently to others.
:
Let’s clear something up.
You are not fertile every day of your cycle.
You are only fertile for 6 days each cycle.
Here’s how that works?
• The 5 days leading up to ovulation (because s***m can live inside the body for up to 5 days = yep, those determined little swimmers really hang around).
• Ovulation day itself = the egg only lives for about 24 hours.
Once that egg is released and that 24-hour window passes?
That fertile window is closed for the cycle.
The closer in*******se happens to ovulation, the higher the chance of conception. Timing matters.

Now here’s where things get interesting..
Tracking your cycle is wonderful for awareness, but predicting ovulation and confirming ovulation are two different things.
If you truly want to understand your fertile window, we need real data:
Basal Body Temperature tracking:
– Use a thermometer that reads to the decimal point.
– Take your temperature first thing on waking.
– Around the same time every morning.
– Before getting out of bed or even checking your phone.
We’re looking for the subtle temperature shifts that happens after ovulation. That shift confirms it.

LH (ovulation) test strips:
These detect your luteinising hormone (LH) surge before ovulation.
I recommend starting around Day 7 of your cycle to avoid missing your surge.
And just to be crystal clear:
Day 1 of your cycle is the first full day of proper bleeding (yes, your period, not spotting). If you miscount this, everything is off.

Your body is not random.
It’s rhythmic. It’s Intelligent and communicating, if you listen.
When you understand your fertile window, you move from guessing, to knowing.
And that changes everything.

I know you want to know, so here is a little update 👇
:
I’m officially at the halfway mark and feeling very different, in all the best ways. My digestion and bowels have improved massively and those annoying morning vs night weight fluctuations? Gone and weight overall also down. I genuinely don’t want to go back to how I felt before.
My energy is up, training feels more natural (and less a grind) and we’ve even uncovered a potential genetic cholesterol issue and some low nutrient levels.
Plus, my fitness has levelled up thanks to having my ass kicked by Jacqui twice a week (in a good way) 😆
Honestly, even if we stopped now, I’d still be over the moon with the changes so far, but I’m even more excited to see what the next 3 weeks bring 👀🔥

November is always a big month in our house ✨

✔️ I ran sweat vs steam (when I shouldn’t have with my knee injury & my knee blew up in the first 1km, it was then just a battle to finish, not finishing is never an option) 😅

Amongst all the beautiful moments and memories, we also lost our family dog of 15 years 💔

Kidneys:
They need help. Mild dehydration + low electrolytes = a tired filtration system.
Plan: More water + daily electrolytes.
:
B12:
Sitting at about halfway to fabulous.
Plan: Double the B12 and bring on more red meat in next wees meal plan. We’re building a B12 with a supplement too.
:
Hormones:
Currently behaving like a group chat in chaos.
FSH and LH: completely unbalanced.
SHBG: too low (not holding its boundaries).
Testosterone: too much.
Plan: Vitex, zinc, magnesium, stress management, strength + conditioning + a daily cup of organic spearmint tea to politely tell testosterone to calm down.

Cholesterol:
A smidge elevated - could be genetics, hormones + stress.
Plan: More fibre to help clear excess hormones + cholesterol, dietary strategy incoming in next week’s meal plan and support with CoQ10, omegas and berberine. Further investigation underway also.
