These are the poor slum housing conditions that children in Yangon’s most disadvantaged areas are living in. There families are totally “Dirt Poor” and have dumpy, dirty and unsanitary conditions in which to live. They have very little money and food with which to feed the family members. So what happens is this. They are preyed upon by Child traffickers who tell parents their children will work in a factory, they pay the parents US$50 (a lot of money in Myanmar) and that the child will send money home each week. The children are taken never to be seen again.
Rotary thru the SCOT project supports the local Step In Step Up organisation who provide vocational training for children from these disadvantaged families. Please help us by donating to the SCOT project - go to the following website link :

The SCOT PROJECT SUPPORTS :
STEP IN STEP UP IN 2023 - Latest Report :
This Month our Top Recruiter is "Myanmar Food for Thought" who we thank for supporting SISU and offering our graduates jobs.
SISU and Pun Hlaing Hospitals have united to Empower Vulnerable Youths and SISU is very happy to announce its partnership with Pun Hlaing Hospitals (PHH), aimed at providing a transformative 12-month Health Care Aide training program for vulnerable youths from Hlaing Thar Yar.
The program begins with four months of comprehensive training at SISU's Vocational Training Academy, combining theory and hands-on practice in simulated classrooms. Following this, trainees will start an eight-month internship at PHH, receiving additional guidance and support from medical specialists.
SISU Founder expressed her excitement, stating, "We are thrilled to join forces with Pun Hlaing Hospitals in creating this unique opportunity for vulnerable youths."
This month we spent some time visiting our graduates to see how they are getting on in their new jobs.
SISU began recruiting 20 new trainees to join a new program sponsored by BESTSELLER Bookstores.
The role of English in education and training is vital for Myanmar youths looking to forge a better future.
SISU aim to tackle this challenge in two ways:
1) In-class English Language lessons, whether they are completing on the job training or training in the simulated Call Centre, all of the trainees attend weekly in-class English Language lessons.
2) Access to Higher Education remains severely restricted especially for the poor and disadvantaged. Key to this program's success is providing first class English language learning to the trainees. In Hospitality Training program, Zwe Khant Aung is branching out to open his own Coffee shop as a result of his SISU Training.
My name is Zwe Khant Aung. I stopped schooling at Grade 9, I had no goal or hope for my future.
I heard about SISU and because I wanted to change myself I joined SISU Hospitality program in 2022. We learned many skills and Barista training became my favorite. SISU trained me to become not only a Barista but also an entrepreneur. I was well trained how to manage a coffee shop, customer service, stock check and financing for café shop. After graduating from SISU I am very happy to open my own coffee shop. I thank SISU for all support regarding the life skills and career pathway for a young person like me who had lost hope.
In the humanitarian field SISU has provided 10,200 hot meals in the last two months delivered to the PiTi dump site during the rainy season starts.

Over the last few decades there has been many successful organ transplants but also a significant imbalance between the demand for and the supply of organs, creating the basis for a highly profitable black market trade in human organs. There are reports that children have been kidnapped to be trafficked and that they simply disappear and are subsequently killed to have all their transplantable organs removed for profit. These “reports” are true and children especially from countries with lots of poor families are preyed upon and many children just go missing ! This must be stopped.
