For stubborn migraines, severe headaches and shoulder pain, dry needling has always given my clients, friends and family, faster pain relief and longer periods between attacks.
Dry needling can be painless, but in my experience if nothing is felt, nothing will happen. The target of the needles is the trigger point of the muscle that is inflamed or injured to cause a direct stimulation and healing response.
Does it hurt? Sometimes a twitch response is made from the muscle or just a deep minor sharp feeling is felt. The Chinese just call it a āneedle feelingā but itās a completely different feeling compared to a booster shot or injection as the skin pain is practically nothing and the needle is 10x thinner.
Adjustment therapy is always first on the list, because if your spine isnāt aligned, your muscles will never relax and heal. However, with accompanying muscle release therapy, dry needling and the use of a denneroll (a neck orthotic), I have seen the best long term results.
If you struggle with stubborn headache, migraines or shoulder pain that isnāt responding to adjustment therapy alone, come and give dry needling a go at our clinic!
