We were fortunate to attend the International Symposium Mammographic Conference in Bournemouth, UK. Our State Radiographer, Sarah Mills and Chief Radiographer of our St Vincent's clinic, Jane Brooks represented us. 🤩

It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with clinical experts and learn about the latest in breast imaging and care.

We presented a poster on the use of automated image quality review software, and we're thrilled to announce it was awarded 1st prize for the Caroline Roney Award.
Congratulations to the team and everyone involved! 👏

Last week we attended the Kalkallo Women's Health Forum, hosted by Ros Spence MP, State Member for Kalkallo. It was an insightful session where we got to hear from local community about barriers to accessing health care.

We had the opportunity to talk about our program and the importance of breast screening. We also heard from other organisations that are dedicated to providing women with services to support their health and well being. This included Evoca Women’s Health, Multicultural Centre for Women's Health, and DPV Health.
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to educate the community on breast health and being breast aware. 💗

If you're aged 50 to 74 with no breast symptoms and it's been 2 years since your last breast screen, book in now. Call 13 20 50 or click the link below.

What a month! June kept our Community Engagement team inspired as they connected with local communities to educate them on breast health and help on their breast journeys.
We attended:
- Information session for Arabic speaking women, in partnership with AMES Australia
- Salvation Army/Access Health First Nations Cancer Screening Event
- Equally Well Forum hosted by Safer Care Victoria
- Information stand at a BBQ event hosted by AMES Australia
- Kalkallo Women's Health Forum hosted by Ros Spence MP

Thank you to these terrific organisations for collaborating with us to help educate the community about the importance of breast health. 💗

Refugee Week is celebrated across Australia from 15 -21 June this year. The theme is 'Finding Freedom', which highlights the diversity in our community.

We are proud to work with the Adult Migrant Education Services (AMES), who deliver the Humanitarian Settlement Program, to provide essential breast screening services to refugee and migrant communities throughout Victoria. Together with AMES Australia, we have supported over 35 newly arrived refugee women from diverse backgrounds get a breast screen this financial year.

This year we also had the opportunity to attend a BBQ event with AMES and other organisations to connect with newly arrived migrants and educate them on breast health and being breast aware. Thank you for having us .

About BreastScreen Victoria

BreastScreen Victoria aims to reduce the impact of a breast cancer diagnosis ensuring you have the best health outcome through early detection. We aim to provide free mammograms to 70% of women aged 50−74 every two years, as they are the group most at risk of developing the disease. However, all eligible Victorians 40+ are eligible to attend.

BreastScreen Victoria is made up three components:

  • BreastScreen coordination unit (BCU). The BCU is responsible for administering the funding for screening, reading and assessment services. It is also the central hub for all information, appointment services, communications, recruitment, MSS coordination, and monitoring service levels to implement quality improvements.

  • Screening service providers. With 42 permanent screening clinics across Victoria, and 25 sites that are visited every two years by the mobile screening service (MSS), we strive for equality of access for all eligible Victorians.
