For International Women's Day, we were proud to host the incredible team from Sisterworks Inc 🫶

SisterWorks has a powerful mission to uplift migrant, refugee and asylum seeker women through training and employment opportunities. During the session, we also had the privilege of hearing an inspiring story from Marynel, one of the sisters. 🧡

Marynel shared with us her passion for art, and her story migrating to Australia. It was a strong reminder of resilience, opportunity, and the impact women can have when they are supported and uplifted.

Visit Marynels website at https://marynel.com.au/ to see some of the work she does with Crafted Culture - a café powered by SisterWorks plus more of her art. 🎨

Thank you to the SisterWorks team and to Marynel for coming and sharing your story with us.

To celebrate International Women's Day this Sunday 8 March, we attended The Royal Women's Hospital, International Women's Day Breakfast.
It was an inspiring morning featuring speeches from the Hon. Mary-Anne Thomas MP and Sue Matthews, CEO of The Royal Women's Hospital , with a panel discussion, moderated by Dr Preeya Alexander.

It was incredible to be in a room filled with so many dedicated and passionate women – who are driving change across our sector. We’re grateful to The Royal Women’s Hospital and event partners for creating a space that left us feeling motivated and connected. Thank you for having us . 💗

Today is International Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Awareness Day, a day to raise awareness about HPV - a very common virus that can affect anyone with a cervix. It’s most often acquired in late teens and early 20s, and can increase the risk of cervical cancer later in life.

Elise, our Nurse Coordinator with the Women’s Health Mobile Clinic, shares an important message about the importance of cervical screening. 💙

“HPV is common and often has no symptoms, that’s why cervical screening and getting vaccinated are so important. Looking after your sexual health is a normal and powerful part of caring for your overall well being.”

“At the Women’s Health Mobile Clinic, we’re proud to bring cervical screening, including the option of self-collection, directly to regional and rural Victorian communities.”

Cervical screening is just one of the many women's health services we deliver as part of the Women's Health Mobile Clinic. To learn more of the range of services and to see if it will be visiting a town near you, click the link below. 🫶

About BreastScreen Victoria

BreastScreen Victoria aims to reduce the impact of a breast cancer diagnosis ensuring you have the best health outcome through early detection. We aim to provide free mammograms to 70% of women aged 50−74 every two years, as they are the group most at risk of developing the disease. However, all eligible Victorians 40+ are eligible to attend.

BreastScreen Victoria is made up three components:

  • BreastScreen coordination unit (BCU). The BCU is responsible for administering the funding for screening, reading and assessment services. It is also the central hub for all information, appointment services, communications, recruitment, MSS coordination, and monitoring service levels to implement quality improvements.

  • Screening service providers. With 42 permanent screening clinics across Victoria, and 25 sites that are visited every two years by the mobile screening service (MSS), we strive for equality of access for all eligible Victorians.
