Very sad but Covid ended our face to face groups last year and we moved online with some months having 20 people- we were due to start again at the end of the month however it’s not to be 😢
I’m grateful for everyone who came along to our meetings that have been running for 4 years ❤️❤️❤️I’ll be keeping the page going and sharing beautiful birth stuff- I’m still running if you want to chat birth babies and general mumming xx amelia
A message from Milli:
It is with great sadness that I must announce that after much thought, I have decided to end the network of pregnancy support groups that forms part of the Positive Birth Movement.
I am very proud to have initiated this support network which has helped so many women and families. However, due to a variety of reasons it has become increasingly unsustainable - with a global pandemic unfortunately being a final and very definitive nail in the coffin.
The Positive Birth Movement will continue to run - our website, online courses, social media channels, and campaigns - but the network of groups will close.
It has been an immense privilege to run this network over the past nearly 9 years. What started as a small idea grew to a global phenomenon, with as many as 450 groups around the world. Such was the force of energy from women who wished to reclaim birth as the extraordinary, life-enhancing and positive event that it is and always should be.
I would particularly like to thank the Facilitators who have given up their time and energy to run the groups over the years, bringing women and families together, not to learn from experts, but from each other. What a wonderful gift to the world these groups have been, and they would not have existed without the hundreds of people who have run them.
I believe we really have played a big part in changing the narrative around childbirth and for that I will always be incredibly proud. Now there are so many other resources, too, for positive birth, and many groups and organisations offering the message that birth is not something to fear but to feel excited about.
As I've said, the PBM will go on, but for the groups, the time is up. I feel very sad but also a huge sense of relief, like taking off a very beautiful pair of incredibly uncomfortable shoes after a night of dancing...
With love to you all for now, Milli x
