It was lovely to see such strong engagement at the recent continuing education evening hosted on Friday, 17th April 2026, by Orthoptics Australia SA – “A Focus on Low Vision”!
As the theme suggests, the event highlighted a number of topics in the field of low vision. Insightful presentations covered the evolving role of holistic support networks such as SeeWay (an initiative of Guide Dogs Australia), identification of cerebral vision impairment in paediatric settings by Dr Lynne Loh from iSight specialists, and a demonstration on the different types of visual aids available to the vision-impaired person by Carmel Harris.
It was an invaluable opportunity to connect with colleagues across the eye care sector and reflect on how we can continue to improve outcomes for patients living with low vision. iSight Specialists shares the same goals with OA in seeing how these discussions translate into practice across our SA community.
We are proud to have provided the venue for the event. Dr Lynne Loh, functional vision specialist, along with Fiona Lau, orthoptist, provide their expert services from iSight Specialists and work closely with our chief ophthalmologist, Dr Deepa Taranath.
