It's been 2 weeks since I started my admission and I officially finished yesterday!

Sometimes you gotta ask for extra support to get you through the harder times!

I'm feeling a lot better, I've learnt a lot and ready to tackle this grief with the extra support of counselling, art groups and NDIS!

I wasn't going to share this but...

I reached crisis point a few weeks ago and I'm now accessing extra support for my mental health.

I won't go into detail because I'm not ready but it's the truth.

Last night a friend said she admires me and I held back tears as her daughter pulled on me to lift her up. I picked her up and tried to listen to the compliments I was receiving but all my head could think was how much I've failed.

She said to me that it isn't failure and it's actually admirable that I know when I need help and I reach out and get it.

I have spoken about mental health issues and wellbeing to you guys for almost 6 years now and in that time I've had multiple crisises that have sent me into mental break downs. 2 needing hospital support.

But I am 8 years free from su***de attempts and 3 years clean from self harm. So if that isn't a win, I don't know what is.

I'm trying to remember this and be proud of myself but that heavy depression cloud is dark right now.

I almost felt a sense of shame to you all since the hospital has been involved. Like I failed you guys. But I know I haven't.

The moral of this story is, don't forget strong people need help too. It's okay to ask for help. And it's okay to receive help, no matter who you are. Even if you work in mental health, you still need mental health care!
