Geelong Born was established in April 2016 by Rosie Fitzclarence. Geelong Born grew from a desire to provide quality childbirth education and maternity support to the families of the Geelong region. The team at Geelong Born aim to provide personalised and holistic care throughout pregnancy, birth and the early postpartum period. We work collaboratively with healthcare providers in both the private and public sector hospitals to provide the highest quality support and education. A little about Rosie...

Rosie has proudly been working as a registered nurse and midwife for over 16 years. During this time, she has worked in a wide variety of women’s health and maternity settings. Her role at Geelong Born focuses on independent childbirth education and birth support. She strives to empower, inspire and bring confidence to expectant parents. She caters for families giving birth in the hospital setting and for those planning a home birth. Rosie's maternity experience has also extended to the UK, interstate and now in her home town of Geelong. She has extensive experience in IVF and fertility nursing. She has a keen interest in childbirth education and has facilitated classes in both hospital and community based programs. Rosie has undergone formal training as a childbirth educator through CAPEA (Childbirth and Parenting Educators of Australia Inc). In addition to her work within Geelong Born, she continues to practice clinically in all areas of midwifery. This keeps her practice up-to-date and understanding of the current birth climate. Rosie is mum to her two girls, Ava 8 and Maggie 6 years of age. Her own positive birthing experiences have given her further drive to promote pregnancy and childbirth as a natural yet profound life event. She believes all births are unique and that women should be supported in a way that is individually tailored to their own needs. She draws upon knowledge as a mum and a midwife to ‘keep birth normal’ and avoid unnecessary intervention.

She is proud to be a Certified Hypnobirthing Australia™ Practitioner and passionately believe this program gives couples the best chance of achieving the birth they dream of. She takes a relaxed and friendly approach during her classes and feels very privileged to be teaching expectant parents how to give birth in such a calm and positive way. QUALIFICATIONS

🌟 TENS hire 🌟
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
TENS (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation) is a method of labour pain relief involving the use of a hand-held device connected to electrodes placed on a mother’s back.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When using the TENS, the woman will experience a tingling sensation around the site of the electrodes.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The gentle electrical impulses can reduce the pain signals going to the spinal cord and brain, which may help relieve pain and relax muscles.

Benefits include:
🤍 No drugs enter the bloodstream or cross the placenta
🤍 You’re in control, you hit ‘boost’ when you need to and control the intensity as is comfortable for you
🤍 They’re easy to use and portable (super handy in the car on the way to the hospital!)
🤍 They help your body produce its own endorphins (our natural painkillers and feel-good hormones)
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Have you considered using a TENS machine for natural pain relief in labour?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
TENS machine hire is available at Geelong Born. Reserve yours now via the website. Free drop off and collection in the central Geelong area.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Please get in touch early if you’re due in January. I’ll be slowing down over the Christmas period and wont be dispatching units from 22nd Dec - 8th Jan 🎄

I’m excited to be part of the team. Next month I will be officially starting and I’ll be working closely with Berth obstetricians and Dr Aleisha Gorski.

I feel incredibly lucky to be working alongside midwife extraordinaire . Together we’ll be offering antenatal education and tailored preparation to assist Berth couples in making informed decisions about their pregnancy and birthing experience.

In addition to this, Charlotte and I will also provide postpartum care to ensure that parenting gets off to a great start. Our goal is to help mothers feel confident, healthy and empowered as they begin their journey as new parents.

On a side note, Geelong Born Birth Prep and courses will continue as scheduled for ALL expectant patents regardless of birth hospital or care provider. I will continue to provide private sessions as I have always done also so essentially nothing is really changing with Geelong Born.

Get in touch if you have any questions. Rosie 🌼

Welcome Ren 💙

This little guy was in a hurry to enter the world! Born last month to superstar parents Kelsey and Zac after a very intense 2-3hr spont active labour and a beautiful unmedicated water birth. Weighing in at a chunky 4025g….Kelsey is a pint-sized 5ft tall 💪🙌

They attended a Geelong Born Hypnobirthing course late last year and were supported by the wonderful Barwon Health MGP midwives. Congratulations!

I recently spoke with the lovely Teya at Me Mama I Maternity]. Not only is Teya the creator of an amazing local online store providing goods for pregnancy through to postpartum, but she’s a two-time Geelong Born hypnobirthing mama.

I was delighted to help with a blog piece all about hypnobirthing. Have a read if you have a moment.
Repost Me Mama I Maternity]
This is me after delivering my first baby without any intervention or pain management. Other than a few puffs of gas.

I had a very similar if not identical birthing experience with my second.

How did I do this? Hypnobirthing!

Today in our blog we sit down and chat with superstar midwife and childbirth educator Rosie Fitzclarence from about all things hypnobirthing.

To find out more about hypnobirthing and how this helped me to have two calm and amazingly positive birth experiences head to our blog via the link in bio.
