NAME: Renee

ROLE: Support worker

Question: Why did you want to become a support worker?

I wanted to become a support worker because everyone out there living with a disability is someone’s Mum, Aunty, Cousin ect and everyone deserves to be treated like an individual and shown the kindness you would show to your family members.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I love to be in the kitchen - making a little sweet, always. Relaxing with a crime podcast and hanging out with my family.

If you could have one superpower, what would it be and why?

My super power would to be to have a double of myself - then I could get things done twice as fast and be in two places at once.

🍽️ MEALS WITH MEANING- Nominate someone for a FREE home-style meal delivered to their door this Friday.

This is a no-strings attached initiative that has already provided our community with more than 100 servings of food cooked with-love by both our staff and participants. 🥹 And we want to keep on giving!

Our last two weeks have been filled with beautiful nominations of such very deserving people and our participants are more than ready for week 3. This weeks meal is FRIED RICE 🤤

All meals are cooked and prepared in a commercial kitchen and all participants are supported 1:1.

Last Friday was another beautiful day of connection, teamwork, and community at Sensory Stuff Support Services.

Our amazing staff and participants headed out to gather ingredients, roll up their sleeves, and cook up a storm—preparing and delivering over 50 servings of home-style dinners to local families who were nominated. 🌟

🍽️ Meals with Meaning – Our First Cook-Up! 🍝

Today, something truly beautiful happened at Sensory Stuff Support Services.

We had our first official cook for our Meals with Meaning program – and it was a huge success! One of our incredible participants was supported to plan, shop, prepare, and cook meals that are currently out for delivery to families across Geelong who have been nominated by others in the community.

These nominations have touched our hearts – from families grieving the loss of a beloved pet, to new parents adjusting to life with a newborn. Each story reminded us why we started this initiative: to create connection, kindness, and a little relief in times when it’s needed most.

And in the kitchen today, as our participant finished their final meal, they looked up and said:

“I am so proud of myself.” 🥹

That moment said it all.
The heart behind this program isn’t just in the meals – it’s in the growth, the confidence, and the purpose it brings to those cooking them, too.

We are beyond proud of our participants, our team, and this beautiful, growing initiative. Here’s to making hearts a little lighter, one meal at a time 🌈
