While tummy time is a great tool for helping to prevent flat spots, it’s important to remember that addressing the underlying causes of those flat spots is key. Sometimes, there may be a restriction or asymmetry in your baby’s neck, spine, or even muscle tone that can lead to uneven pressure on the skull.

To truly support your baby’s head shape and overall development, we need to address these restrictions, not just focus on tummy time alone. By working on improving alignment, mobility, and muscle coordination, you can help your little one move more freely and reduce the risk of flat spots.

It’s all about a holistic approach to growth and development!

It’s easy to feel worried or even blame yourself if your baby isn’t hitting milestones "on time." But the truth is, development isn’t a race, and so many factors influence how and when babies progress.

Things like birth position, type of birth, muscle tone, or sickness that can influence how much tummy time they tolerate can all play a role. The good news? There are plenty of ways to support their development and help them build the strength, coordination, and movement patterns they need.

However, if you have concerns, it’s absolutely okay to reach out and seek support. You know your baby best, and trusting your instincts is always important. If you have questions about your little one’s movement or milestones, we’re here to help!

Let’s talk about the Webster Technique!

Despite some common misconceptions, the Webster Technique isn’t about “flipping” a baby—it’s about supporting your body. This gentle chiropractic approach focuses on correcting imbalances in the pelvis, muscles, and ligaments, helping to create more optimal function and space.

When the pelvis is balanced, the surrounding structures can work more harmoniously, which may support your baby in finding the best possible position. It’s not about forcing anything; it’s about working with your body and baby to see what they can achieve together.

Every pregnancy is unique, and the Webster Technique may be a safe and effective way to support your journey.

Did you know chiropractic care during pregnancy may help with more than just back pain? Research suggests it could also support shorter labor times by improving pelvic alignment and reducing tension in the lower back and hips.
Studies have shown that chiropractic adjustments during pregnancy may help balance the pelvis and optimize the alignment of the sacrum and lumbar spine. In one study, women under chiropractic care experienced a significant reduction in labor times—first-time mums averaged 25% shorter labors, while those who’d given birth before saw a reduction of up to 31%!
Pregnancy can cause static changes in your pelvis, sacrum, and lumbar area, which may contribute to discomfort and impact how your body prepares for birth. Gentle chiropractic care may help your body adapt, creating more balance and potentially supporting a smoother labor experience.

Feeling sharp or aching discomfort in your lower belly during pregnancy? It could be round ligament pain—a common sensation caused by the ligaments stretching to support your growing baby. Factors like hormonal changes, overactive pelvic floor or core muscles, heavy lifting, or even sudden movements can contribute to this discomfort.

Whilst round ligament pain can be common, it's not a normal or necessary part of your pregnancy. Gentle hands-on care with a pregnancy-trained practitioner may be a helpful addition if you're feeling like your body may need some more support as it adapts.

Feeling pins and needles in your arms or hands while breastfeeding or postpartum? You're not alone, mama! These sensations can often be linked to nerve irritation in the neck, muscle imbalances, or the hours we spend in those "head-down" postures while caring for our little ones.

The good news? With some simple posture tweaks, stretches, and strengthening exercises, you can start feeling more comfortable. Using proper support during feeding and taking time to reset your posture can work wonders.

Remember, taking care of yourself is a service to your family. You're the glue that holds things together, and no one likes a tingly-fingered glue-mum!

If you’re pregnant and feeling pain around your pelvis, hips, or lower back, you’re not alone. PGP affects many mums-to-be, and while it’s common, it’s not something you just have to “put up with.”

PGP can be caused by hormonal changes, joint instability, or extra strain on your pelvic area as your body adapts to pregnancy. It can make everyday movements—like walking, turning in bed, or climbing stairs—feel challenging.

The good news? You don’t have to face this alone. Whoever your trusted, pregnancy trained physio, osteo or chiro is may be able to help reduce pain, restore movement, and make your pregnancy journey as comfortable as possible.

Your body is doing an amazing thing—let’s support it so you can feel confident and strong every step of the way.
