Merry Christmas from us to you!

We are beyond grateful for the support from the local community as we got Zest off the ground this year. We can hardly believe it’s only been three months of our little business ticking along.

We can’t wait to see what 2026 brings; likely lots more giggles from both of our work rooms, Frida cuddles and endless chats with our beautiful Zest crew (you!).

I’ll be working Monday 29th - Wednesday 31st and then taking a little break. If you’re in need of an adjustment next week there’s a couple still available if you’re speedy!

It’s the week before Christmas and we’re sensing a bit of a tone shift in our clients. The busyness is ramping up, the gifts need to be wrapped and you’re feeling like you need to elbow Margaret out of the way in Aisle 4 to get the last dozen un-cracked eggs for the pavlova.

With all this hustle and bustle, our nervous systems are processing constant stimulation. The rush can leave us feeling frazzled, overwhelmed, and not quite like ourselves.

Don’t let the busyness of the season wear you down - we’ve got a sprinkling of appointments left in the lead up to Christmas. Come in and take a moment for yourself. You deserve it!

We’re both here for you through the festive season, albeit with some reduced hours to embrace food comas and the occasional sleep in.

I’ll be working up until the New Year, then laying on the beach and drinking grapefruit margaritas in Torquay until the 11th Jan.

Appointments between now and 31st of December are filling, so do reach out for a pre-Christmas adjustment to get a time that suits you best!

Hunter’s list of priorities at his check up:
1. Monster Trucks
2. Spotting Frida out the window
3. ... me (at least I scraped in somewhere).

Why do little ones come to the chiro? Often it’s for support through those big developmental leaps, coordination, tumbles as they learn to move, changes in sleep or feeding, or simply helping their growing bodies fly along at top speed.

Whatever the reason, caring for your little people is my favourite part of every day (even if the monster trucks are theirs).

Sitting doesn’t usually arrive overnight - most babies start finding their balance somewhere between 6–8 months. Before that steady, upright moment happens, their bodies are busy building the strength and coordination to get there.

In this video, we’re using purposeful play to help little bodies learn, rather than be propped:

• Gentle side-to-side “wobbles” to wake up the muscles that keep them centred
• Reaching for toys out to the side to build strength and stability
• A slow “round-the-world” movement, moving clockwise and anticlockwise to help them organise their balance.

Most kids love this - give it a go! However, if you feel like your child might be struggling with this more than you’d like, my DMs are always open to discuss.

At Zest, detail is the name of the game.

For example, if someone comes in with headaches, we want to know everything: when they began, what makes them better or worse, and - most importantly - what are they getting in the way of for you?

From there, we run gentle tests to understand how your body is moving, how your nerves are coordinating muscles, and what your posture is doing day-to-day.

Most of the time, that gives us a really clear picture. But every now and then, if a few things don’t quite add up, an X-ray can be a helpful next step.

It lets us see what’s happening beneath the surface rather than relying on assumptions - another piece of the puzzle in understanding why you’re feeling the way you’re feeling so we’re even better equipped to get on top of it long-term.

Frida loves your little people just as much as we do 🫶🏼💛

This week we’ve had: newborns sleeping and feeding better, toddlers digestion improving, ten year olds focussing more easily and teenagers with supermodel posture in the midst of formals and exams… and it’s only Tuesday!

As always, thank you for choosing us to care for your families.

If you’ve noticed low back pain that shoots down your leg, this one’s for you. This kind of symptom is one of those “common” things (especially during pregnancy) that isn’t actually normal. And, the good news is it’s fixable.

Nerve flossing is a simple, gentle way to help the nerve glide more freely, improving movement, and calming that sharp or zingy sensation.

1. Find a seated position and sit tall.
2. Bend one knee in toward you while tucking your chin to your chest and rounding forward slightly.
3. Slowly straighten your leg as you lift your chin and look up toward the ceiling.
4. Repeat 5–10 times, twice daily.

Keep it slow and comfortable. You’re not trying to stretch the life out of your hamstring - you’re just encouraging the nerve to move smoothly again.

Working with kids can be busy, peaceful, noisy, calm, messy, or all of these in one 10 minute session.

Our space is set up for families to feel comfy.
The same goes for their visits - we’ll always meet your child where they’re at.

Sometimes that means their chiro visits are done beside the train set they’re building. We can adapt!

Dr Ginny welcomes everyone from the newborn phase, to late retirees. Tiff works best with teens onwards, so her books are open for counselling for anyone 13+.

Here’s Dr Ginny, doing her usual thing - learning, refining, and nerd-ing out over the ins and outs of pregnancy and paediatric care.

Because adjusting a pregnant body isn’t just “regular chiropractic, but make it baby”. It calls for its own skill set and considerations.

The do’s and don’ts of pregnancy can sometimes feel like a moving target. Our goal? To give you care and guidance that takes the guesswork out of it, so you can grow your tiny human with a lot more comfort and a little less confusion.

I recently had a freshly post-partum mum in for her first visit since welcoming her fourth baby. I have the pleasure of caring for the whole gaggle.

We celebrated the fact that she booked herself in first - prioritising her own rest and recovery before bringing the kids in the following week for their check-ups.

What we know is that mum sets the tone for the whole family. When she’s frazzled, tired, or sore, everyone feels it. When she’s supported, rested, and cared for, that balance ripples out to everyone around her.

So here’s your gentle Friday reminder to do something slow for yourself. Maybe it’s a cup of tea in the sunshine (if we’re lucky enough!), a quiet walk, or even one mindful minute hiding in the pantry and taking a few deep breaths - if that’s all you can manage today, it still counts!
