At DOCTO, we know prevention is better than treatment, so we are all about healthy habits for healthy kids. Here are our top tips:

〰️ Encourage healthy eating habits: Provide a balanced and nutritious diet for your family, including plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean protein sources. Limit processed and sugary foods.
〰️ Promote physical activity: Encourage your family to engage in physical activity every day, such as playing sports, going for walks or bike rides, or participating in a fitness class.
〰️ Maintain good hygiene practices: Teach your family the importance of washing their hands regularly, covering their mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing, and avoiding close contact with people who are sick.
〰️ Get enough sleep: Ensure that everyone in your family gets adequate sleep, as lack of sleep can weaken the immune system and leave you more susceptible to illness.
〰️ Stay up-to-date on vaccines: Make sure your family members are up-to-date on recommended vaccinations to help protect against serious illnesses.
Keep up with your doctor's appointments for regular checkups.

By following these steps and encouraging your family to prioritise their health, you can help ensure that everyone stays healthy and well. When sickness does come knocking, Docto is there to help.

A behavioural paediatrician is a medical doctor who specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of behavioural and mental health issues in children and adolescents. They work with children and their families to identify and treat a wide range of conditions, including attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), anxiety disorders, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and disruptive behaviour disorders such as oppositional defiant disorder (ODD) and conduct disorder.

Behavioural paediatricians typically have specialised training in the assessment and treatment of childhood behavioural and mental health issues, and they use a combination of medical and therapeutic interventions to help children and their families. This may include medication management, psychotherapy, and behavioural interventions, as well as support and resources for families.

Behavioural paediatricians work closely with other healthcare providers, such as primary care physicians, psychologists, and therapists, to ensure a coordinated and comprehensive approach to care. They play a critical role in helping children and their families manage behavioural and mental health challenges, and they can make a significant difference in the lives of children and their families.

If you have a sick child, it's important to seek medical attention as soon as possible to ensure prompt treatment and recovery. Here are a few steps you can take:

〰️ Assess your child's symptoms: Look for any signs of fever, coughing, difficulty breathing, or other concerning symptoms. If your child is experiencing severe or life-threatening symptoms, such as difficulty breathing or loss of consciousness, seek immediate medical attention.
〰️ Consult your paediatrician: Contact your paediatrician's office and explain your child's symptoms. They can advise you on whether to come in for an in-person visit, schedule a telemedicine appointment, or refer you to an emergency room.
〰️ Follow your paediatrician's instructions: If your paediatrician recommends an in-person visit, follow their instructions for when to come in and what to bring. If they recommend a telemedicine appointment, make sure you have the necessary technology and equipment set up ahead of time.
〰️ Keep your child hydrated: Ensure your child is drinking plenty of fluids, especially if they have a fever.
〰️ Follow appropriate hygiene measures: Wash your hands frequently, especially before and after caring for your child, and encourage your child to do the same. Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your elbow when you cough or sneeze, and dispose of used tissues properly.

Remember, early treatment and proper care can greatly improve the chances of a quick and full recovery. If you have any concerns or questions make an appointment with our sick kids service today.

Paediatric telehealth refers to the use of telecommunication and information technologies to provide medical care, health education, and support services to children and their families. This includes a wide range of activities, such as virtual doctor consultations, remote monitoring of health conditions, and remote access to health resources and information.

Paediatric telehealth can help improve access to care for children living in remote or underserved areas, reduce the need for travel to health care facilities, and improve the quality of care by enabling real-time communication between patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers.

It is a growing field that has the potential to greatly benefit children and their families, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic when in-person visits to healthcare facilities have become more challenging.
