✨ Celebrating One Year of Somatize ✨
This month marks one year since I opened my own somatic and trauma therapy clinic — Somatize. After 15 years as a therapist and 6 years in leadership across community and mental health services, stepping into my own practice full time has been an incredible milestone in my professional and personal journey.
Somatize was born from a deep belief that healing isn’t just about talking about our stories — it’s about helping the body release them. Somatic therapy supports and expands traditional talk therapy by connecting mind and body, allowing stored experiences and tension to be gently processed and integrated.
Over the past three years, I’ve deepened my work through extensive somatic certifications and advanced training. While somatic therapy has always been at the heart of my approach, this deeper study has expanded how I help clients integrate the body and mind — supporting and enhancing traditional talk therapy.
I’ve had the privilege of working with individuals and couples navigating trauma, anxiety, grief, chronic pain, addiction, complex mental health, dual diagnosis, ADHD and other forms of neurodiversity. My clients come through Victim Support, WINZ, insurance-funded pathways, EAP and private referrals.
Somatize sits on five tranquil acres in West Auckland surrounded by trees, water and birdsong — a peaceful space for clients to reconnect with their bodies and begin to heal. Alongside individual therapy, I also offer professional supervision and group supervision for counsellors and organisations wanting trauma-informed, somatic-based reflection spaces.
As Somatize celebrates this first anniversary, I’m also excited to announce what’s coming in the new year:
🌿 Somatic couples courses
🌿 One-day restorative retreats
🌿 Meditation and embodiment classes
If you or your organisation are looking for trauma-informed, body-based therapy or supervision in a serene, grounded setting (or online), I’d love to connect.
Here’s to another year of embodied growth, courage, and healing.
