What would you choose? Depends on the injury right?
Historically, ICE 🧊 has been used for acute injuries such as ankle sprains, jarred fingers and lower back pain.
Over recent decades, there has been a shift away from the use of ice with a new protocol acronym PEACE & LOVE coined for acute injury management -
• Protection
• Elevation
• Avoid Anti-inflammatories
• Compression
• Education & Load
• Optimism
• Vascularisation
• Exercise
HEAT🔥on the other hand, can be a great way to relax muscle spasm and tightness as well as promoting blood circulation and healing.
However, heat isn't recommended for open wounds (as with ice), swelling, or for those with circulation issues.
If you're unsure whether to use ice or heat, reach out for a chat, we're more than happy to help😊
