To mark International Midwives Day our team of Midwives at Gosford Private Maternity are giving back by creating birthing kits for the Birthing Kit Foundation Australia. These kits will go to birthing attendants and nurses in low resource countries to help prevent infection and deaths during birth. Each year more than 300,000 women (mostly from developing countries) die from childbirth, many from preventable infections. So these kits can literally be a life saver. The team plan to create hundreds of birthing kits today, which include a plastic sheet, a sterile blade, gloves, clean cord ties, gauze and soap.
