There were so many good guesses!!

My favourite thing was that there was no giant interactive whiteboard in the middle of the room 😍

Children already have enough access to screens in day to day life. We don't need them front and centre in their play spaces as well. It is becoming rare to see this unfortunately.

Tonight I kick-started this year's ECEC professional development workshops with the amazing crew at Shapes Early Learning Redbank Plains.

We dove into how physical environments in early childhood centres can play a vital part in creating an emotionally safe space for our children.

They got to see me struggle without my glasses 😂 and struggle to take a group selfie (for those comfortable on camera). Check out the progression of my facial expressions 🤦😂

Later this week I'll share some parts of their environment that made my heart swell ❤️❤️

Yesterday evening I made the last minute decision to join a Perinatal Mental Health networking evening organised by the beautiful Emma-Lee from Holding Her Perinatal Psychology.

It was wonderful to meet other clinicians from all facets of the perinatal and family health world 😍 and be surrounded by so many passionate and strong women.

And an added bonus that we got to hang out at Cedar & Pine Bar 🥂 you always run into the nicest locals there!

As many of you know, I can bump heads with schools 😂🤦 but I think it is important to acknowledge that there are many teachers out there who go well and truly above expectations 😍

Today I have been emailing back and forth with two inclusion support teachers. When they could be relaxing at home with their families, they are working with me to ensure I am able to come to school to support one of their students ASAP.

While I absolutely don't expect this, I am so appreciative and I know the families are as well.

One of the perks of working in families homes is meeting their family pets 😍

Over my week I visit homes with giant puppies, teeny tiny puppies, cuddly cats and even the odd slithery friend 🐍🐍

As an animal lover, it is such a wonderful little extra 🌟

This week beautiful Miss Peppa made herself at home on Meebie while I wasn't watching 😻

It is day one of school for many of the families in The Playful Life Community and with that comes so many different feelings...

- Excitement
- Fear
- Anxiety
- Relief
- Exhaustion

Not everyone's experience is the same and no experience or feeling is the "right" one and from one day to the next, these feelings may change.

Happy New Year!!

As we take a collective deep breath to prepare for another 365 days, I am so excited about what 2026 will bring for myself and The Playful Life!

🌟I am hoping to bring some AFFORDABLE parent training options to those families who do not 'fit' into the funding streams and find accessing evidence-based support so very difficult.

🌟I will be working beside early childhood teams continuing from last year and welcoming a few new teams to the Playful Life community.

🌟I will be speaking at my first ever CONFERENCE!! Terrifying stuff! Unendingly grateful to the wonderful people who think I am interesting enough to listen to!

But most of all, I am so grateful and privileged to continue working alongside so many AMAZING little humans and meeting a few new children and families who are welcoming me into their world.

Oh, and I will be a mother of a high school child 😵‍💫scary stuff!

I will be back in the office and with clients from Monday 5th Jan!
