This time last year, I was learning how to walk again…
This year? I was riding a freakin’ dirt bike at the Husqvarna Women’s Trail Ride 😎🏍️

Recovery is wild — it’s not just about the body, it’s about the mind, the identity shifts, the “can I really do this?” moments… and then one day, you just do.

After breaking my back, I had to rebuild from the ground up. Not just bones — but confidence, trust, and belief in my body again.

And now? I’m bringing that lived experience into my work.
Sports & injury rehab counseling — for the ones who’ve been through it, or are smack bang in the middle of it.

If you’re healing, doubting, or trying to figure out who you are post-injury — I’ve been there. I get it. And I’ve got you.

Let’s ride this one out together. 💪🏽💬

Over the weekend I had the opportunity to put away the art materials and get frocked up. I became the canvas, the creator of living art 👩‍🎨. Thank you Ellen Hardy for organising such a special event for the women of Gympie 💐
Ellen runs The Gympie Women Network, which has been a brilliant support for myself and my private practice here in the Gympie region. Special mention to Brea Martin Photography for capturing our moments 📸

Never Stop Moving: The Healing Power of Art, Music, and Dance

Music, dance, the arts, and movement have healed me more times than I can count. They have held me in moments where words failed, offering me a way to express what my body has carried—sometimes for far too long.

There is something profound about movement, about engaging with the senses in a way that bypasses logic and reaches straight into the soul. Whether it’s the fluidity of dance, the rhythm of a brushstroke, or the resonance of a note held just long enough to vibrate through my being—each is a form of release, a way of shaking loose what no longer serves me.

Our bodies remember. They hold onto things we don’t even realize we’ve been carrying. Stress, grief, joy, love—sensations imprint themselves deep within us. And sometimes, what lingers is no longer welcome. Movement allows me to locate these remnants, to acknowledge them, and to let them go. It is a process both primal and sacred—one of trusting my body to do what it innately knows: to move through, to process, to release.

There’s a freedom in that. A lightness. A reminder that I am not meant to stay stuck. That expression—whether through dance, music, painting, or any creative outlet—is not a luxury but a necessity.

So, let me never forget. Let me never stop moving. Never stop dancing. Never stop creating. Whether it’s the motion of a paintbrush across a canvas, my body swaying to a rhythm only I can hear, or my voice singing words that need to be spoken—may I always return to what sets me free.

🎨 Art Therapy: For Your Neurospicy Awesomeness! 🌶️🖌️

Life’s a lot, right? Sometimes you just need a space where you can let your brain do its thing—no filters, no rules, no pressure. That’s where art therapy comes in.

🌟 What can you expect?

Got Big Feelings™? Perfect. Let’s put them on paper (or clay, or paint… whatever works).

Love textures? We’ve got all the sensory goodies—squishy, scratchy, smooth, you name it.

Hate small talk? Great. The crayons and I are both terrible at it anyway.

Need to move around? Totally fine—this is an anti-sit-still zone.

It’s your space, your pace, and your chance to create however you want. Bring your hyperfixations, your stims, your brilliance, and maybe a snack (seriously, snacks are encouraged).

🎭 Sound like your jam? Slide into my DMs, and let’s turn those ideas into art (or at least have some fun trying)!

Went for a walk with my cuppa this morning and found 6 different species of mushrooms 🍄 and some eucalypt saplings that had sprouted around the dam.

Active mindfulness for me = slow walking in nature, feet on country, drinking my cuppa and noticing my environment with all my senses 💚✨️🌄

As a therapist with lived neurodiverse experience - Yep, I'm ADHD and so are my kiddos. I need to write ✍️ everything down unless it's something that I'm hyperfocused on. Lucky that's art therapy, otherwise, we'd be in trouble 😅

In all seriousness, though, using tools 🔧 to help our neurodiverse brains to function in our everyday life is super important. And there are many out there, it's overwhelming! 😳

But I find the ones that stick 🟨 for a neurodiverse brain are the ones you come up with yourself 💡, using your creative mind in session to find a solution that is the right fit for you.... and believe me, I've tried a lot 🙉

Being able to use our creative, think outside the box 📦 minds is a powerful tool. During our sessions, we tap into that super power 🦸‍♂️ 🦸‍♀️ and find indiviulised solutions to help improve our function and capacity 🌟
