May is Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month in Queensland, and it's a good reminder that control has no place in a healthy relationship. Domestic and family violence can show up in different ways, making people feel scared, powerless, or unsafe.

If you or someone you know is feeling this way, it's important to reach out for help—there are services that offer advice and support.

Everyone deserves to feel safe and secure in their relationships. You're not alone, and help is always available. If you think someone you know might be experiencing domestic violence, please offer your support. Listen to them, show empathy, and connect them with the resources they need.

Let's work together to create a community where everyone feels safe and protected.

📚 Book Club is on next Tuesday!
📔 Pop it in your diary.
We like to create all kinds of opportunities for a more inclusive community here at Gunabul.
📕 Book Club is a social group where anyone can come who would like to chill & connect over their love of a book, to share an experience, maybe find someone with that similar interest.
📚 Books can take you on a journey far away from the everyday tasks, here's your chance to connect with others whilst sharing that journey for just a couple of hours each month!
This group is facilitated in a supportive environment ensuring everyone has their time to talk, read, listen & connect!
🍰 This inclusive group has a $5 membership which includes morning tea from the cafe.
Enjoy some time in the pool room whilst you're here!
✅ Want to know more? See flyer for contact details.
🤚 We look forward to meeting you.

Happy Mother’s Day to Every Kind of Mum

Today, we celebrate you—the mums who gave birth, the mums who chose to love, stepmums, foster mums, adoptive mums, grandmothers, aunties, big sisters, and mother figures.

To the single mums, working mums, stay-at-home mums, mums who are no longer with us, and those longing to be mums.

Your love, strength, and care shape the world in ways that words can’t capture.

For the next few days, I will be working from home with my sick child, who has been lucky enough to contract Influenza A.

As we move toward winter, the presence of illness in the community increases. The following preventative measures can reduce the risk of contracting a cold or flu:

1. Wash your hands regularly
2. Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth
3. Avoid being around people who are unwell
4. Stay home if you feel unwell
5. Talk to your GP to see if the influenza vaccine is right for you
