WORLD DIABETES DAY💜🌍

World Diabetes Day (WDD) is marked every year on the 14 November, the birthday of Sir Frederick Banting, who co-discovered insulin in 1921. Diabetes and well-being is the theme for 2024-25, with a focus this year on diabetes in the workplace.

World Diabetes Day is a global opportunity for people with diabetes, healthcare professionals, advocates, policymakers, and the public to come together to raise awareness and act on diabetes.

LEST WE FORGET ❤️

Today is Remembrance Day. A day to honour the courage, service, and sacrifice of all Australians who have served, and continue to serve.

For many veterans and their families, today carries significant emotional weight. It may stir grief or quiet reflection. If you know someone who is feeling heavy or distressed, reach out. A gentle check-in can mean the world 💛

If today brings up difficult emotions for you or someone close to you, we encourage you to reach out to Open Arms - Veterans & Families Counselling for free and confidential support. The line is available 24/7 on 1800 011 046. Other support services can be found at ruok.org.au/findhelp

So what do Developmental Educators do …. Well thats a really broad question that we discussed yesterday. What we came up withis:

We support people across the lifespan in ares that they would like support in and to meet goals they would like to achieve. We work with individuals and their families and other supports. We do it all therapeutically , even if it may not feel like it.

The Developmental Educators Australia promote the DE’s scope of practice as:

Understanding DE Scope of Practice

Developmental Educators (DEs) are qualified professionals who provide behaviour support through:
Conducting functional behavioural assessments
Developing individualised support plans
Collaborating with people with disability

🎃Happy Halloween🎃

As we venture out into the streets tonight to celebrate Halloween we just want to remind everyone to be extra safe and aware of your surroundings.

Halloween decorations can be scary. Ghosts, goblins, witches and black cats are everywhere! And they often come with bright, flashing lights and loud sounds. Even though they’re just for fun, they may be frightening. They also may be overwhelming to those with sensory issues.

Safety:
🎃Before you go trick or treating, take a picture of your child/loved one in their costume. This will ensure you have a recent picture in case they get lost.

🎃If your child/loved one may wander, have them wear glow-stick bracelets to make them easier to spot after dark.

🎃Wear something that distinguishes you from the crowd so your child can easily find you.

🎃Make sure your child/loved one has identification on them and a way to communicate if they are lost.

🎃If they are nonverbal, write your name and cell phone number on paper and put it in your child/ loved ones pockets.

Be kind and welcoming to all who choose to participant.

We hope you all have a spooktacular night 🦇
