This patient presented with category 2 Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC – skin cancer) on her left cheek that required removal. Through careful examination and mapping, Dr Milap Rughani excised the skin cancer and performed a reconstruction by rotation flap repair with consideration of how this patient would heal, and approached the procedure using techniques to achieve minimal, blended scarring (swipe across for a close-up and her intra-operative before and after).
These images show this patient before and after BCC excision. After photos were taken 6 weeks following surgery. Intra-operative images show this patient before and immediately after surgery.
📌 Basal cell carcinomas (BCCs) are the most common type of skin cancer and are typically found on the face, ears, neck, scalp, legs and back. They rarely spread but can invade deeply if left untreated for too long. While some early BCCs can be managed without surgery, the majority are best treated through surgical excision.
