5 Reasons to Ditch Artificial Sweeteners

As I included this quote from Louise Hay, in a follow up email for one of my clients, I was reminded of a time some 20 years ago when I was sitting with a meditation group that I was part of and sharing my "woes" of the time.

An older, wise woman said to me "that all is exactly as it is meant to be, how could it be anything else". At the time I found this very comforting.

So just in case you are feeling a bit at sea today here are some comforting words.

In the infinity of life where I am, 🪐

all is perfect, whole and complete. 🥰

I no longer choose to believe in limitations and lack. 🔓

I now choose to begin to see myself

As the universe sees me - perfect whole and complete. 🥰

The truth of my being is that I was created 👩

perfect, whole and complete. 🥰

I will always be perfect, whole and complete. 🥰

I now choose to live my life from this understanding. 💫

I am in the right place at the right time doing the right thing. 🌟

All is well in my world. 🌎 🧡 🌈 ☀️ 🌻

Our bodies are designed to live in a state of relaxation, punctuated with moments of stress. 🌳

The reality for many people in the modern Western World is that they live in a state of stress punctuated by moments of relaxation. 💆🏼‍♀️

Healing is an action of the parasympathetic nervous system (the rest and digest system) and occurs when we are in a state of relaxation. 🧘‍♀️

Health and healing are not generally found in a 15 minute appointment and prescription from your Doctor. 🙎

A pharmaceutical intervention may provide some much needed symptom relief and even be life saving triage, but it does not deal with the route cause of the issue. 💊

Chronic health issues will not magically disappear even if a drug masks the symptoms.

They will always find another way to express themselves unless you address the route cause!

In order to heal and address the route cause we must reduce stress by bringing our bodies back into a state of balance. ⚖️

By using nutrition, eliminating toxins, reducing inflammation, changing mindset and making lifestyle changes so many chronic health issues are resolved. 🌳🍎🥦🥕💃🏻

The reality is you have to be prepared to make changes to how you live if you want your health to change!

PS. Walking in nature with a friend brings me great joy and is one of my favourite ways to relax. Look for joy!

We all know we feel much better after a good night’s sleep. Many healing and clearing processes take place while we sleep and good sleep is undeniably a critical foundation for complete health.
This interesting study shows the correlation between poor sleep and greater accumulation of the toxic proteins thought to be the pathological cause of Alzheimer’s disease.

A robust new study from researchers at UC Berkeley has found a consistent association between poor sleep and greater accumulation of the toxic proteins thought to be the pathological cause of Alzheimer’s disease. The researchers suggest fragmented sleep could be an effective early way to predict.....

What a difference 3 minutes can make!

I love this “calm Heart Meditation” from Kundalini Yoga. It relieves anxiety and promotes calmness and mental clarity.

You can begin, end or intersperse your day with this soothing breath practice.

Here’s how to do it:

* Sit in a comfortable position, with a straight spine and chin lightly tucked in so the neck is long.

* Place the left hand on the centre of the chest at the heart centre, fingers are parallel to the ground.

* With the right hand make Gyan Mudra (index finger and thumb touching) and raise it as if giving a pledge. Palm faces forward and the three fingers not in Gyan Mudra point up.

* Eyes are either closed or looking forward with 1/10th open.

* Breath: inhale slowly and deeply through both nostrils, then suspend the breath in for as long as is comfortable and raise the chest. Then exhale through the nose smoothly, gradually and completely. When the exhale is complete, lock the breath out for as long as is possible.

* Continue and concentrate on the flow of breath for 3 minutes or longer.

* To end: inhale and exhale strongly three times and then relax.

Enjoy this beautiful practice as you induce a feeling of calmness. ❤️💕❤️

I highly recommend the work of Dr Dale Bredesen for anyone with, or caring for someone with, cognitive decline and or Alzheimers.

From the age of 45 years, we should all be taking our brain health seriously.

In a condition which seams to have mainstream medicine "stumped" people following Dr Bredesen's protocols are having unprecedented recoveries. In this interview he discusses his latest book which focuses on the "ins and outs" of implementing the protocol.

It’s exciting to watch new developments in medicine, especially when new treatments for diseases are developed. Unfortunately, there is no treatment that has...

I came across this a couple of weeks ago and have been practicing it ever since. The most used phrase for me has been "Thank you for being patient with my reply".....and what a difference that makes to how I feel about myself.

Self love has many flavours.

The healthy part of you does not need to apologise for daring to be you!

This brilliant article by the Father of Functional Medicine, Jeffrey Bland PHD, explains the intersection between metabolic syndrome (which underlies co-morbidity) and the Virus called COVID19.

To quote him: “I believe these co-morbidities result from the complex interaction of individual genetics, lifestyle, environment, diet and the social determinants of disease”.

We cannot influence our genetics however we can take charge of which of our genes get expressed, our lifestyle, our environment and our diet. If we are in good health as we come across viruses and other pathogens our bodies are in a great position to respond.

As a Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach, I work with people to create Real Health. Health through nutrition, health through lifestyles that encourage movement and stress reduction and health by living in healthy environments.

“What happens when the world’s most prevalent non-communicable health condition and a highly infectious viral disease collide? We find ourselves in our new reality: a COVID-19 pandemic within a pandemic of metabolic syndrome.”

I have published a new article on Medium that I feel is one of the most important pieces I have ever written. I invite you to read it, share it, and tell me your feedback.

My colleague Diana Siepman will interview our amazing teacher Tracey Harrison next Thursday to bust some myths and teach some pearls about the Thyroid and the Adrenals. They will be live at 3pm Central European Time (and it will also be recorded). This is for practitioners and also health seekers.

Here are some typical symptoms that someone with low thyroid function may experience: low energy, fatigue, feeling cold, unexplained weight gain or weight loss resistance, hair loss, dry skin, brain fog and perhaps elevated LDL cholesterol. Regular blood tests may show that your thyroid is just fine and thyroid issues may not be further explored (there are more levels to this). You may be on thyroid medication and still not feeling symptom relief, that's because there is more to it than just taking thyroid hormone.

So if you are interested to know more register on the link and join me next week as Diana and Tracey discuss this often misunderstood area of health. Thursday June 4, 3pm CET.

If we are collectively going to uplift humanity and heal the world, we need ourselves to be well. To be operating from our own space of abundance, clarity and purpose.

If we are dimming our light through habits and lifestyles that don't serve our wellbeing we cannot possibly bring our best selves in service of our families and communities.

It is my mission to help as many people as possible to move towards a state of complete health from which they can serve their highest purpose in this life.

It is amazing how resilient we plant and animal beings are. This little orchid has been actively ignored by me. It wasn't because I didn't want to care for it but it just seemed too hard. I knew it needed some good nutrients and a more suitable environment and well ...... I was too busy.

In this "slow down" I have paid attention to what this orchid needs to thrive. I have given it nutrients, water, a bigger pot to call home, and moved it to better light and where it will get more of my attention.

Many people (including myself at times) don't give due attention to the habits, environments and relationships that nourish them and help them to thrive. Instead they Survive life!

We usually know when we are not caring for ourselves as well as we could and we often know deep down what needs to change but in the busyness of life it can all seem too hard.

One of the blessings of these times is the potential opportunity to stop and reassess.

An opportunity to prioritise an environment that creates healing - sleep, rest, exercise, deep breathing;
an opportunity to maximise nutrients and raw materials that we need to function and heal;
and the chance to minimise what we know is harmful for us as a unique individual.

When we are strong, healthy and thriving we can show up in the world with confidence and grace.

Hello Everyone!
I am creating a Meditation Group to do 21 days of Abundance with Deepak Chopra. I am part way through this series of meditations and I am finding them to be very uplifting and I feel called to share them.

The daily meditations are guided and take approximately 10 minutes. They are suitable for anyone to do, you don't need to be an experienced meditator.

I will run the group on What's App, providing daily meditations and additional exercises that you can choose to do. The first day of our 21 days of Abundance Practice will be Monday 23 March. If you are interested in joining the group please message me.

Functional Medicine Coaching

My story: I came to the path of Functional Medicine through my eldest daughter Olivia, who suffered with severe Allergies, Asthma and was very frequently ill. She rarely made it through a week of school and did not have the stamina to do any of the extra curricular actives other kids were doing. A simple play date would usually mean the next week of school. We went to many different doctors and different healing modalities. We had some success with a Food Chemical Eliminating diet that I discovered through another mother but it wasn't until a Chiropractor we were seeing recommended a Functional Medicine Doctor that Olivia actually healed and was able to begin a full life. She is now 17 and thriving!

During this learning towards recovery, a friend who was studying Health Coaching asked if she could coach me. I loved this friend and as I was still piecing together Olivia's health recovery, I said yes. In the first session, I started to discuss what I was doing with Olivia and what the next steps were. It was here that my Coach stopped me in my tracks and said "actually this coaching is going to be about you". This began a great unravelling of a lifetime of "busyness", disconnection to myself, and a lack of self care. My healing began and is continual. At times I slip back into busyness but mostly life flows much more easily.

I am passionate about helping women to see their own worth, take time to really care about themselves, to not busy (drink, smoke etc.) over the hard stuff and to see that there is a path to healing and living a long full life.

I’m a Certified Functional Medicine Health Coach, an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, and a Certified Kundalini Yoga Teacher. My passion for Functional Medicine and getting to the root cause of dis-ease has now led me to study with the School of Applied Functional Medicine.
