People with type 1 diabetes juggle every day to match their insulin to their carbohydrate intake, physical activity, stress, illness - this in itself is a full time job. Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGMS) takes the guess work out and helps people living with type 1 diabetes to keep their glucose levels in the target range - helping to reduce the long term complications of diabetes. Researchers at the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute have found that sitting for prolonged periods throughout the day (e.g. at an office-based desk) can have harmful effects on blood glucose and insulin levels, blood pressure and inflammatory markers.
