In 1997, the Australian Health Technology Advisory Committee recommended a bowel cancer screening program for Australians 👴🏿 Following a pilot program, the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program (NBCSP) began in 2006 💩
Since then over 7.9 million bowel screening home test kits have been completed. Home Kits are available for Australians aged between 50 and 74 every two years. If you’ve been sent the home test kit, do it today.
If someone you love is eligible but has never screened or hasn’t screened for some time, encourage them to do their home test kit.

Approximately 55 Australians are diagnosed with breast cancer each and every day. That equates to over 20,000 Australians diagnosed with breast cancer each year. 1 in 7 women are diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. About 1 in 700 men are diagnosed in their lifetime. In 2021, over 3000 Australians passed away from breast cancer including 36 males and 3102 females. That’s 9 Australians a day dying from the disease. All women over the age of 40 are entitled to a free mammogram every 2 years. Speak to your GP regarding regular breast checks and learn how to check your breasts for early stages of breast cancer.
