STONLEIGH…. 🪡
Such a beautiful pack that represents so more than just the fabric. Stonleigh was the start and centre of my artist journey.

It was the name of a small fabric shop in a regional community, that was full to the brim with light, love and inspiration.

It was my salvation… I had a very young family, very little time to myself and we lived on a farm nearly an hour away… but whenever I went to “town” the smiles at Stonleigh was always part of my routine stops.

Stonleigh has given me a lifetime of amazing friends, a caring community and loads of inspiration.

Thank you Susan for creating this stunning range that has allowed me to go full circle, back to where it all started.

I promise I will dig through the cherished patterns and make a very special quilt that’s loaded with 25 years of memories.

Heartfelt thanks to Susan and Christine, along with Sue-Ann for being the core of this trip down memory lane, you may never appreciate how special a time in my fabric journey you all were. Also a grateful shout out to Sally for her impeccable professionalism and making sure I was able to enjoy these sweet fabrics.

I also appreciate the gift that Ursula recently made for me.. the back quote reflects my gratitude today. 🍎🍏

IRISH ☘️

This beautiful quilt was a delight to make.
I enjoyed having the fabric and pattern arrive and it came together so easily. I have just purchased a wonderful straight sewer Juki machine from used to create this beautiful quilt.

How fortunate am I to be able to spend such a wonderful weekend at .. surrounded by beautiful fabric, friends and cake.

It was a small reunion for a few of us, who met 20 years at “Summer School” .. and new “like minded” friends Jen 💕💕and Gilli 💕💕

After nearly a “decade” I was humbled to be able to share this quilt with its designer as I am very proud of the final result. “The Rowdy Flat Library Quilt” was designed by Susan and I’m grateful for the pattern, support and advice over the journey.

Wrap me up 🪡🤗

When I first decided to wind up my business, I set about completing a quilt for all of my crew.
The last Brickendon Quilt company quilt for each of them.
It was a super surprise, and at Christmas time I gave all of my family thier last BQC quilt (probably not the last one they’ll ever get.. I will just need to find a quilter to help me complete them)..
This is (most of) them all stretched out across our varandah.

Daron, Alex, Conrad, Millie, Blake, Harry, Emma, William, Dad, Mum, Campbell, Charlotte & Ainsley forever wrapped in my love.

Christmas 🎄 in Australia

Ursula SERIOUSLY loves everything about Christmas and her family’s home is beautifully decorated each year.

Many years ago purchased the project of “The Santa The Tree The Turkey and Me”. (Last photo credit to Anni Downs 🤗)

At the time Ursula said this was one of the most enjoyable projects she has ever done, and as a result has continued to be a massive fan of Anni Down’s designs and patterns.

Ursula has gained quite an extensive “Christmas” collection. With this featured project Ursula has used her CREATIVE LICENCE to combine other “Hatched and Patched” Christmas inspired festive designs in this latest project.

Some of the inspiration came from “A Christmas Story”, “All is Merry and Bright” as well as “All for Christmas”.

Ursula has had this project basted on the Gammil quilting machine so she can start with a perfectly flat and square wall hanging, before it’s sc****ly hand quilted prior to Christmas.

Thanks for always being such a beautiful friend and wonderful supporter of my quilting over the (many many) years Urs. ♥️

LAST DRINKS 🍷

After 22 years, 4 long arm quilting machines, 5 studios and a lot of quilts, I have decided to call it a day.

I have walked away before to try and find more time for myself and for my family, but this time is different.

On Friday I sold my last quilting machine to a beautiful local lady who is about to embark on her own new adventure.

My passion for fabric, fibre and all things textiles is undiminished, but now I can start some of the “beautiful” work that you have inspired me with over the past two decades as it crossed my machine in my studio.

And I couldn’t be more excited.

This industry has given me more than I could possibly have hoped or imagined… it’s given me “you”. A community that appreciates exactly what I do in textiles. The stories, art, functionality, design, fibres, patience, history, technique, colour, feel … ect ect .. but most importantly the genuine love and care that’s stitched inside everyone one of your quilts.

Thank you for allowing me to walk away with my cup overflowing.

If I do still have your quilt here.. don’t worry I will finish it and return it ASAP.

Greenstone by the Sea

Palette of blues, greens, and greys combined to create a sophisticated and refined “grown up”21st birthday quilt. It is a touch of whimsy, and is centre stage on a clean white background.

This quilt was the gift created for the lovely young lady for her milestone birthday.

The queen size quilt was made using using 2 x dessert rolls from latest stunning range with Fabrics.

The crisp and classic quilting pattern “Spring Thaw” was designed by Jodi Nelson and is cuddly yet modern quilt.

This pattern is a favourite, and you have seen it here before, using different colour ways. (scroll to the end to see versions.)

Steam Punk Quilt🌸

Steam Punk quilt by Jen Kingwell was gifted to as a thank you from a friend.
The challenge was set, and after some initial trepidation, it was wholeheartedly accepted.

Ursula recently told me that she hadn’t ever done anything like it before, and although this quilt was not in her usual “wheelhouse” 🛞 she was really proud of herself with the finished project.

I think you’ll agree the final result speaks for itself .. 🌸🌸 truely STUNNING.

 This quilt pattern works in any colour palette and I agree with that it’s a great gender neutral design. This project (which is on the last photo for you to checkout) is written for hand piecing but with the inclusion of Acrylic Templates, it can be machine pieced as well.

Ursula has proudly gifted this to a family member, who now loves it even more knowing how much work and determination went into making it for them.

Miss Marvellous🌸

This beautiful quilt was made by the uber talented . The fabulous design comes from book “Quilt’s, somewhat in the middle”.

This quilt gives you the feeling of an old fashioned eiderdown and its finished size makes it a perfect “snuggle” quilt.

The appliqué blocks are hand picked from Lisa’s never ending exquisite fabric basket, and the border fabric is a stunning choice of florals, that perfectly pick up on all of the colours in Lisa’s appliqué blocks.

It’s an outstanding quilt.
