So many community pharmacies are small, family-run small businesses.

Our members at Amcal Springvale Highway Chemist are no different - with mum and daughter duo, Tran and Caitlyn, and their team hosting Minister Harriet Shing MP on her first visit to a community pharmacy with Pharmacy Guild Of Australia - Victoria Branch since taking on the health portfolio in Victoria.

The pharmacy has recently completed a renovation, with three consult rooms well kitted-out to deliver more services to patients. They've looked at several ways to boost access to primary healthcare for their community, including extending operating hours so patients can more conveniently visit the pharmacy to obtain their medication, vaccinations and other services.

Thank you Minister for coming to understand more about them as they continue delivering more services!

Thanks to all the members who joined us for our final Victoria Branch Member Briefing of the year in Shepparton last night.

We were also pleased to welcome Member for Shepparton Kim O’Keeffe MP, who spent time talking with members and finding out more about the vital role community pharmacy plays in providing health services in regional communities.

It was a valuable evening of discussion, connection and information sharing as we continue advocating for and supporting community pharmacy across Victoria.

We’ve hit the road this week as we wrap up this year’s Victoria Branch Member Briefings.

Our Member Briefings are a valuable opportunity for the Guild to provide updates directly to members but just as importantly to hear about your successes and challenges.

It’s been great to see members from the Geelong region over the past week at the Victoria Branch’s Geelong Member Briefing and again last night at the QSPP Roadshow.

As pharmacists are enabled to do more for patients under Victoria’s Community Pharmacist Program, and with quality assurance evolving from QCPP to QSPP, these events have provided an opportunity to continue important conversations on the future of pharmacy practice.

We were pleased to attend the RAPS Career Expo last week to speak with future pharmacists on the career opportunities that are available in community pharmacy.

As community pharmacists are enabled to practice at their full scope nationwide, Grace shared her journey to becoming a pharmacist prescriber and how that has changed the patient care she delivers.

It was also great to have pharmacists Alex from Ouyen Pharmacy, David from Gunn and McConville Pharmacy and Sharon from MediGreen Dispensary & Clinic share their wide range of experience in delivering patient care in a variety of settings.

We were pleased to attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony last week, to celebrate the launch of the new Complete Care Pharmacy Brighton.

This is the first metropolitan Complete Care Pharmacy in Melbourne.

Its model promotes pharmacists as clinicians as part of a collaborative community healthcare team, and demonstrates the value community pharmacy brings to patients in Victoria, as part of the state's ongoing expansion of the Community Pharmacist Program.
