💙Bowel Cancer Awareness Month💙

55 year old Rachel Rizk was receiving bowel screening kits in the mail every two years, but they piled up unopened – then she was diagnosed with bowel cancer.

“I had several unused tests sitting in my cupboard when I was diagnosed and I felt so silly, so now I tell everyone to do the home test,” Rachel says.

The bowel cancer screening test is quick, easy and could save your life. So much so, that people who have done the test before are almost three times more likely to do it again.

“The test is not disgusting, it’s actually very easy and it’s the best way to get an accurate result. Once I finally did it, I wasn’t sure why I didn’t do it sooner, I felt quite ridiculous letting it go so long.”

This we’re reminding you to do the test when it arrives in the mail – for yourself and your family.

HELPING HANDS 🖐️ 🖐️

Be ready to help when it matters most.

With support from the NSW Reconstruction Authority, a practical workshop will be held in Henty & Culcairn via the Greater Hume Council.

They’re designed for people who find themselves in the middle of a crisis — not as formal responders, but as neighbours, friends, and locals who step in when needed.

Maybe you're part of a sporting club. Maybe you run a local business. Maybe you’ve helped out during a flood, fire, or storm — or know you’d show up if something happened. These workshops are for you.
You’ll learn how community efforts connect with the broader emergency system, take part in a hands-on scenario to explore how a local emergency might unfold, and build the confidence to act safely and effectively when the pressure is on.

Catering is provided, and two $50 gift cards will be drawn at each session.
