Introduction to Massage Therapy Workshop
Discover the healing power of touch in this practical and welcoming workshop. Perfect for beginners, this session is ideal for anyone looking to assist friends and family with minor aches and tension, or for those considering a career in massage therapy and wanting to explore the practice before committing to formal training.
It’s also a great opportunity for caregivers in aged care or disability support to learn simple, soothing techniques that bring comfort and connection to those they care for.
Who Is This Workshop For?
• Anyone wanting to help family or friends with minor aches and stress
• Those considering a career in massage therapy, offering a hands-on opportunity to try it before committing
• Caregivers in aged or disability care, learning ways to soothe and support clients through touch
No Experience Needed!
Whether you're new to massage or just want to expand your skills, this workshop is designed for all levels.
Note: Participants must be over the age of 18 or have parental permission to attend.
What Will Be Covered in the Workshop?
In the morning, we'll explore the basics of anatomy and physiology, focusing on the neck, shoulders, lower back, and hips. This foundational knowledge will prepare you for the hands-on practice in the afternoon, where you'll learn how to perform a full massage for these areas.
You’ll be guided on how to massage safely, including areas to avoid, things to watch out for, and essential self-care techniques—important even for short sessions. The workshop will also cover table preparation and proper towel draping methods during the theory portion.
With a mix of theory and plenty of practical experience, you'll have time to ask questions and reinforce your new skills at the end of the day.
What Should I Bring to the Workshop?
• Handouts and notes will be provided, but you’re welcome to bring a notebook and pen if you'd like to take additional notes.
• Please bring your own towels; however, if you're unable to, we can supply towels for a $15 fee to cover laundry costs.
• Feel free to bring your own lunch (tea, coffee, and water will be provided). Alternatively, there's an RSL across the road and several cafes nearby where you can grab a bite.
