Pregnancy care can be more than quick appointments, rushed questions, and feeling like you have to piece everything together yourself.

At Woven Midwifery, we offer private midwifery care for women and families who want more time, more continuity, and more personalised support throughout pregnancy, birth and postnatal life.

That might look like early pregnancy care, regular antenatal appointments, extra education and birth planning, hospital birth support, homebirth care, postnatal visits, breastfeeding support, or simply having a known midwife you can talk things through with.

You don’t have to know exactly what you need before reaching out - that’s part of what we can help with.

Your due date can feel like a finish line...but it’s really just an estimate.

In one study of 12,323 low-risk first-time mothers who went into labour spontaneously:

43.4% went into labour before or by their due date
37.1% went into labour in the week after their due date
19.5% went into labour from 41+0 weeks onwards

So if your due date comes and goes, it doesn’t automatically mean something is wrong. For many women, waiting a little longer is still within the range of normal.

It also doesn’t mean induction is “bad” or that waiting is always the right choice.

It means the conversation should be individual - based on your dates, your health, your baby’s wellbeing, your preferences, and clear information about the benefits and risks of each option.

A due date is useful.

But it is not an expiry date.

Continuity. Calm. Connection.
Woven together.

International Day of the Midwife 🤍

Most of what we do isn’t the big moments people picture.

It’s the early pregnancy questions.
The “this might be nothing but…” messages.
The sitting, listening, and helping things make sense.

The steady, in-between support.

We're so grateful to be part of it, and to the families who let us walk alongside them.

Thank you to everyone who came along to our Woven picnic this morning 🤍

It looked a bit questionable early on, but the rain held off and we ended up with such a nice, easy morning together.

It was really special just spending time with our own people - clients (who are our Woven family), babies, and friends all in the one place. And having our very first three Woven babies, all born at home, all thriving and beautiful, there together in one place…that felt pretty significant for us.

We’re so very grateful for the community that’s growing around Woven. Thank you for being part of it 🌿

This was just the first of hopefully many opportunities for us to continue connecting with our tribe - we can’t wait to continue to grow together with you all ###

A little cloudy and drizzly this morning… but we’re still on for our Woven Family & Friends Picnic 🌿

We’ll try and be undercover, and the kids will love the water play area either way!

BYO picnic rug, food, drinks, kids, partners, friends - whatever works for your morning.

Nothing formal, no RSVP needed. We’ll be there, and we’d love to see you if you can make it 🤎

In one of life’s biggest moments, being known matters.

There is something powerful about being cared for by someone who truly knows you - not just your pregnancy, but you.

Your story.
Your hopes.
Your worries.
Your values.
Your way of doing things.

And the research keeps pointing in the same direction. A 2026 Australian national survey found that midwifery continuity models were associated with better outcomes, with private midwifery care linked to higher odds of spontaneous labour and spontaneous vaginal birth, and lower odds of traumatic birth and neonatal nursery admission. (Dahlen et. al, 2026)

Because being known doesn’t just change how care feels. It can change how care unfolds.

At Woven, that belief sits right at the heart of what we do.

If continuity of care matters to you too, we’d love to chat 🤍

The comfort of a known midwife 🤍
There’s something deeply settling about being cared for by someone who knows you - your story, your preferences, what helps you feel safe. Less repeating yourself. More feeling held and heard.

Research on midwife continuity of care (a known midwife or small known team across pregnancy, birth and the early weeks) shows women report more positive experiences, and in many settings are less likely to have interventions compared with other models of care.

If this is the kind of support you’ve been craving for your pregnancy, send us a message, or book a complimentary meet and greet appointment (see our About info for link) - we’re happy to chat and see if we’re the right fit.
