It's the leading cause of death in Australia — and many people have no symptoms at all until something serious happens.

A Heart Health Check is a quick, structured assessment your GP can do right here at Main Street Medical Centre. It looks at your blood pressure, cholesterol, lifestyle factors, and family history to help estimate your cardiovascular risk before problems develop.

If you're aged 45–74, you may be eligible for a Medicare-funded Heart Health Check once every 12 months. Bulk billed for eligible Medicare card holders.

It takes about 20 minutes. It could change the conversation about your health.

When was your last skin check?

Queensland has some of the highest skin cancer rates in the world — and living on the Fraser Coast means sun exposure is part of everyday life. A regular skin check is one of the simplest things you can do to stay ahead of it.

Dr Nadiesh Seneviratne holds a Master of Medicine (Skin Cancer) from The University of Queensland — one of only two GPs in Hervey Bay with this advanced university qualification. He is also an Accredited Skin Cancer Doctor with the Skin Cancer College Australasia and a Fellow of the RACGP.

His clinical focus includes:
→ Full body skin examinations using dermoscopy
→ Digital monitoring of suspicious lesions with DermEngine imaging
→ Diagnostic biopsies and cryotherapy
→ Complex skin cancer excisions, including flaps and grafts — all performed on-site

Whether you've noticed a changing mole, have a family history of skin cancer, or it's simply been a while since your last check — Dr Nadiesh provides thorough assessments and complete continuity of care, right here in Pialba.

FluMist is a nasal spray flu vaccine — a quick, gentle spray in each nostril instead of an injection. It's new to Australia for 2026, but has been used in the UK, US and Canada for years.

Here's the good news for Fraser Coast families — FluMist is free in Queensland for children aged 2 to 5.

The nasal spray isn't suitable for every child — your GP can advise which option is right for yours. The traditional injectable flu vaccine is also still available for all ages from 6 months.

This week we say a heartfelt farewell to our wonderful receptionist, Chris, who is heading off on a new adventure in Brisbane.

Chris has been such an important part of our team — always greeting patients with a warm smile, going above and beyond every single day, and making our practice the welcoming place it is. He will be truly missed by every one of us.

Our mission is to provide the highest standard of patient care to the people of Hervey Bay whilst incorporating a holistic approach toward diagnosis and management of illness.

Our location is ideal for residents of Pialba and the surrounding areas, including Point Vernon, Eli Waters, Urraween, Kawungan, Scarness, Torquay and Hervey Bay. We are located close to public transport services and there is parking available onsite for those who prefer to drive. We are open 6 days a week from 7.30am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday and from 8am to 12pm on Saturdays. Booking an appointment is easy and can be done at any time using our convenient online booking service.
