I have the table set to welcome my ancestors along with a little altar. Obsidian, clear quartz and smoky quartz points complete this.

I call upon my ancestors to watch over my sons and their families this coming year 🙏

I call upon my ancestors with humility and gratifude, to share any wisdom with me, that I may need 🙏

I thank my ancestors for walking beside me and ask they continue to walk beside me this next year 🙏

On this Samhain/Halloween day I honour and remember my mother, father, sister and brother, no longer with us, as well as all my ancestors.
I remember and welcome all the knowledge and wisdom they share with me.
I remember to leave a space at the table for those who choose to visit on this day ❤
I remember today would have been my mother's birthday.
I bow my head to all the women in my family who came before me and showed the way for my journey.
I let go of anything that no longer serves my highest good and humbly ask my ancestors to help me remove any negative feelings left over from when they were here.

Blessed Samhain to one and all as we move towards the new year 🙏☘🧙🧚‍♀️🦇🐈‍⬛

A little bit about me - My name is Lorri and I have been working with crystals for many years, having found my first one at age 7 (in my 60s now).

I create crystal grids for special intentions. I teach workshops both face to face and online, about crystals and I am a qualified reiki practitioner and crystal healer.

As most of you know, I am from UK/Ireland originally. What with Halloween approaching, I wanted to share the history of Halloween (it's not an American celebration!).

Halloween originated in Europe, originally known as Samhain (pronounced Sow-wen).
In Celtic Ireland about 2,000 years ago, Samhain was the division of the year between the lighter half (summer) and the darker half (winter). At Samhain the division between this world and the otherworld was at its thinnest, allowing spirits to pass through.

The family's ancestors were honoured and invited home whilst harmful spirits were warded off. People wore costumes and masks to disguise themselves as harmful spirits and thus avoid harm. Bonfires and food played a large part in the festivities. The bones of slaughtered livestock were cast into a communal fire, household fires were extinguished and started again from the bonfire. Food was prepared for the living and the dead, food for the ancestors who were in no position it eat it, was ritually shared with the less well off.

Christianity incorporated the honouring of the dead into the Christian calendar with All Saints (All Hallows) on November 1st, followed by All Souls on November 2nd. The wearing of costumes and masks to ward off harmful spirits survived as Halloween customs.

The Irish emigrated to America in great numbers during the 19th century especially around the time of famine in Ireland during the 1840's. The Irish carried their Halloween traditions to America, where today it is one of the major holidays of the year. Through time other traditions have blended into Halloween, for example the American harvest time tradition of carving pumpkins.

The USA is where all the modern 'misunderstandings' came from, such as horror movies and making things like pentagrams evil, due to Hollywood horror movies etc.This was an ancient protection symbol, never used for evil. It actually represents earth, air, fire, water and ether, or spirit/soul, surrounded by a protective circle.

Hi all, I am back following my break. It was wonderful being back home in Ireland for my oldest son's wedding.
We then had my youngest son with his wife and my granddaughter come to Australia for the first time ❤️❤️❤️

While I was home, a dear friend had collected some hag stones from the beach in Ireland. I will be posting these in the next day or two 🙂
