Gratitude is a practice - which means finding moments in our busy lives to be grateful.

A garden full of my favourite flower gave me a moment to find joy and gratitude- right there in front of me.

Sometimes we just have to stop and smell … well the jasmine.

Where have you found a moment of unexpected joy ?

INtEgRiTY//
I love this pic from Simon Sinek (I also love Simon’s work). It’s deceptive in its simplicity but at the same time - it’s also pretty straight forward.
We are often silenced. We may not feel someone will agree with our beliefs. Or that our beliefs might offend. So we say nothing. Which is understandable sometimes.
For me however, it is the power of action that carries the most weight. Do our actions align with our beliefs? If I believe in honesty yet lie to others, how does this affect me and those around me. If I believe in being environmentally responsible yet throw rubbish out of my car window, people might see that I believe otherwise. If I believe in being trustworthy, yet talk about others behind their back, then my beliefs and actions are out of alignment.

Where values, beliefs and actions are misalign, then stress and anxiety can fill she gaps.

The balance for this however is integrity. To live in alignment with beliefs and values. To be true to our authentic self.

We aren’t going to get it right every time. Sometimes our beliefs will be challenged. Or we may feel people aren’t worthy of our authentic self. Or we just plain mess it up.

What we do in the spaces where we aren’t on point will show our integrity. How do we correct course ? How do we repair? These are the real values.

So as Simon Sinek says (😄), we harness the power of integrity if we say and do what we actually believe.

Have a beautiful, authentically aligned day 🌻

MENTAL HEALTH WEEK//
So it’s mental health week where we take time to focus on the topic of our mental health, especially in the media. Which is great.
But beyond this though, mental health is important everyday, not just for a week. And that’s because we have good mental health and poor mental health, just like we have good and poor physical health.
There are many things we can do to look after our mental health including
* recognising and responding to stress
* connecting with others (we are a social species)
* taking time to stop and breathe, even if just for a moment
* getting outside in nature
* exercising, including walking (it doesn’t have to be full out but it helps if you do raise a sweat or increase your heart rate )
* being mindful
* laughing and having fun.

There is evidence that the above, and probably a million other little things, can support healthy mental health.

And of course, if you recognise that things aren’t going well, reach out for support. That might be professional support, but it might be chatting with a friend or a loved one, or ringing a help line. There is no one path to good mental health, it’s often like a jigsaw trying to find the pieces that create the picture. But whatever your way, please know that mental health is fluid, good days and not so good days… everything is temporary.

I would love to hear what’s your go to for mental health - I would love you to add to my list so feel free to comment below.

MoTivATioN///
Motivation is a tricky thing. We often sit around waiting for it, or avoid doing things because we are not feeling it. We can all experience this and find things being not done or not completed when we would have liked. I certainly haven’t felt motivated this week. But then again I have. Makes no sense - right? Let me explain a bit more.
I haven’t been motivated to exercise. But with the excitement of a new business I have been motivated to get to see my clients, to create new processes and streamline workflows. So the same me, two different places, two different motivation levels.
The simple answer is that motivation doesn’t come from no where. It comes from discipline, from achieving and from consistency. We will rarely feel ‘motivation’ to start something but we might feel inspired. We usually continue a practice because we find motivation after we start - our first run in a while might motivate us to chase the feeling we get from running, or to better a time or a longer distance. Our motivation to write has to start with picking up a pen or opening the lap top. It starts with starting.

Motivation comes from taking the first step …. If you’re feeling a lack of motivation, can I encourage you to find your discipline or commitment and take the first step … because motivation is hiding just beyond there.

What steps do you need to take to get you where you want to be ??

FATHER’S DAY //
While it’s a day for celebration, for some it’s a day of sadness or reflection. Whatever your day is, take care of yourself. Thanks to R U OK Day for this great reflective graphic.

This weekend may bring up tough emotions for some people. If you're worried about someone, reach out to let them know you're thinking of them and want to support them in any way you can.

NEW BEGINNINGS//
Woo hoo. These are the keys to my new practice room. A space I can nurture and nourish my business in my own way. Where I can provide a safe haven for those with turmoil in their lives, a place of inspiration for those wanting to extend their way to be in new and exciting directions. Psychology isn’t just about the negative … it’s about the chance to grow and flourish and to be supported in finding your best, most amazing self. And as I grow and expand my business, giving it the love and space to flourish, I feel so grateful. Yes there will be hard times, yes this launch week has been super quiet. But I trust this is the right space for me, and for those who seek to visit this space.
Have a gorgeous day lovely humans, thanks for reading 🙂

CONNECTION//
Humans are social beings and as such, connection is vital to our mental health. It doesn’t have to be those intense friendships that we see in ‘Friends’, but being able to connect with one or 2 people, in what ever capacity, allows us a space where we can be ourselves. Life is tricky ans navigating it alone even trickier. Finding connection wherever you can, be if family or sport or common interest, not only adds happiness, but connects us in a way essential to living a full life.
Today I am re-connecting at Logan River parkrun alongside an amazing friend run her 250th run.
Where will you connect today ?

MORNING ROUTINES//
The way we start our day sets us up for how we get through it. With the new Reset Paychology practice launching, it’s the perfect opportunity to RESET my routines (see what I did there).
Adding a regular yoga practice, being organised enough to walk to work (luxury) and making sure I am eating and sleeping right are my priorities, especially with the hectic nature of setting up a new business. Finding grounding in routines is a way to support our best mental health.

What are your morning routine or habits that work best for you? Let’s share and care xoxo
