šŸ’ The Cycle of Change…
Have you ever known something needs to change… but found yourself stuck on what to do next? You’re not alone.

Change isn’t a straight line—it’s a cycle we all move through:
* Awareness – that moment you realise something isn’t quite right
* Contemplation – weighing up the ā€œshould I… shouldn’t I?ā€
* Action – taking those first steps forward
* Rebound – slipping back into old habits (yes, this is part of it too)

Here’s the thing… this is human.

Our choices are shaped by so many factors—stress, time, energy, family, habits, emotions. It’s not about willpower or ā€œbeing betterā€ā€”it’s about support, guidance, and having a plan that actually works for you.

Change requires change… but it doesn’t have to be overwhelming.

Sometimes, it simply starts with a conversation
A call. A click. Booking that first appointment.

From there—we take it one step at a time.

Lime obsessed… and not sorry about it! šŸ’ššŸ‹

I spent Sunday at the beautiful Watercress Creek Olive and Lime Farm talking all things nutrition (my kind of day šŸ˜„), and WOW—these little citrus gems seriously deserve the spotlight!

Why I’m loving limes right now:
Vitamin C = immune system support
Collagen support for glowing skin, strong joints & a happy gut
Antioxidants to help combat everyday stress And let’s be honest… they make EVERYTHING taste better (zest lovers, I see you šŸ™Œ)

Fun little nugget you might not know…
Limes start out green and, as they ripen, they turn more yellow and slightly sweeter šŸ‹
That’s because their natural sugar content increases as they mature—so you get different flavours at different stages. How good is that?!

So whether you love them fresh and zesty or a little softer and mellow… there’s a lime for you šŸ˜

And if you’ve got a juicer hiding in the cupboard… this is your sign to bring it back to life. YUM!!

If you’re dealing with low energy, gut issues, or just not feeling your best—and want to learn how to use simple, everyday foods (like this!) to support your health… come say hi on my page or send me a message. I’d love to help you feel like YOU again šŸ’š

Getting out and about on this stunning autumn/summer šŸ˜† day here in Ipswich QLD, at the Watercress Creek Olive Festival.
Sharing the love of health with fellow local food producers.
It’s not too late to pop on out and take a walk around the scenic Olive and lime grove.

Soaking in the morning sun ā˜€ļøšŸ©·šŸ„°
One of my most favourite things to do. Calming. Grounding. Soulful……….
Gloriously distracting = late for work šŸ˜

This simple moment does more than feel good — it’s helping to set my body clock for the day and support melatonin production tonight.

If sleep has been disrupted (hello perimenopause), don’t underestimate the power of morning light šŸŒž

I would LOVE to see some photos of your morning sunshine time. Please feel free to share in the comments šŸ˜

The Metabolic Sleep Framework for Perimenopause:

Many women in perimenopause tell me this:
"I wake around 3am and my brain suddenly switches on."
Sound familiar?

You might notice:
• your heart feels like it’s racing
• your mind starts planning tomorrow
• you feel wide awake but exhausted
• it becomes hard to fall back asleep

Many people assume this is just stress or insomnia.
But often it’s connected to metabolic changes happening overnight.

During sleep your body relies on liver glycogen stores to keep blood glucose stable.
If glucose drops too low overnight, the brain triggers a cortisol and adrenaline response to bring levels back up.

That stress response can wake you suddenly around 2–4am.
This pattern becomes more common in perimenopause, when hormonal fluctuations also influence sleep regulation.

I created this graphic explaining some of the metabolic drivers behind it šŸ‘‡DM me if you would like some support with your metabolic health.

Many women enter their 40s and start noticing subtle — or sometimes not so subtle — changes in their bodies. Sleep becomes disrupted, concentration isn’t quite as sharp, weight begins to accumulate around the abdomen, moods fluctuate, and menstrual cycles become unpredictable.
For many women, these experiences are related to perimenopause.

Perimenopause is the transitional stage leading up to menopause, when the ovaries gradually begin producing less oestrogen and progesterone. Rather than declining smoothly, these hormones often fluctuate quite significantly during this time, which can influence multiple systems throughout the body.
Because oestrogen receptors exist in many tissues — including the brain, muscles, metabolic tissues and thyroid regulatory pathways — these hormonal shifts can have wide-ranging effects.

Some of the common changes women may experience during perimenopause include:
• Sleep disturbances or insomnia
• Brain fog and reduced concentration
• Mood changes, irritability or increased anxiety
• Hot flushes and night sweats
• Irregular menstrual cycles
• Stubborn weight gain, particularly around the abdominal/visceral area
From a metabolic and endocrine perspective, we also often see:
• Changes in insulin sensitivity, which may increase the risk of insulin resistance
• Gradual declines in muscle mass, which can influence metabolic rate and strength
• Alterations in thyroid regulation and energy metabolism

These symptoms are not simply a matter of willpower, discipline or ā€œgetting olderā€. They are often the result of complex hormonal and metabolic shifts occurring during this phase of life.

Over the coming weeks I’ll be sharing more about why these changes occur and, most importantly, how we can support the body through perimenopause with targeted nutrition, metabolic support and lifestyle strategies.

If some of this resonates with you, please know you are not alone in this experience. šŸ’›

And if you know someone navigating these changes, feel free to share this post with them.

GLP-1 medications are becoming increasingly common in the management of metabolic health and weight regulation.
What is often overlooked is how important nutritional support is while using these medications.

Reduced appetite can sometimes lead to insufficient protein, micronutrient intake, and muscle loss if nutrition is not carefully supported.
Working with a Clinical Nutritionist can help ensure:
• adequate nutrient intake
• preservation of muscle mass
• support for metabolic and hormonal health
• sustainable long-term lifestyle strategies

Medications can be a helpful tool, but nutrition and lifestyle foundations remain essential for lasting health outcomes.

If you know someone who is using — or considering — GLP-1 medications, feel free to share this post with them.

This is definitely something I see in clinic!!

Those who pair personalised nutrition and movement plans ALONGSIDE their weight loss medications see the best results!!!

Choosing your cut of meat isn’t just about flavour. Different meats provide very specific nutrients that support energy, muscle, gut health and cardiovascular function.

As a Clinical Nutritionist and a Registered Nurse, I see first hand how metabolic health shifts in midlife (battle of the bulge).

It’s not about cutting out whole foods, it’s about understanding your individual metabolic needs.

Big thanks goes to Wilco crew at the
Street Butcher for always providing quality whole foods.

Supporting local and supporting health go hand-in-hand. ļæ¼

Today I received two separate messages from two different clients.
Both said the same thing:
ā€œI’ve wanted to start for a while… but life just keeps getting in the way.ā€

Can I gently say something?

Life will always get in the way.

There will always be:
• A busy work season
• School commitments
• A holiday coming up
• A stressful week
• A family event
• A curveball you didn’t see coming

If we wait for the ā€œperfectā€ time to prioritise our health… we may wait forever.

Healing doesn’t require perfect conditions.
It requires a decision.

You don’t need a flawless calendar.
You don’t need a stress-free month.
You don’t need to have everything lined up.

You just need willingness.

When you choose to begin — even in imperfect circumstances — something powerful happens:
You take responsibility.
You shift from waiting… to leading your own wellbeing.

And here’s the beautiful part — we don’t aim for perfection.

We meet in a compromised, realistic space.
Progress over perfection.
Consistency over intensity.
Action over delay.

Your body doesn’t need the perfect time.
It just needs your commitment.

If you’ve been waiting for the ā€œright momentā€ — consider this your sign.

Let’s just go.

Daily Gratitude = Nervous System Nutrition
šŸ©·šŸšŸŽ

Taking a moment each day to notice what you’re grateful for does more than lift your mood — it helps calm your nervous system.
When we practice gratitude, the body shifts out of fight-or-flight and into rest-and-digest mode.
This calmer state allows:
šŸŽbetter digestion
šŸimproved nutrient absorption
šŸ„•balanced hormones
🄩reduced stress signalling

A regulated nervous system tells the body:
ā€œYou are safe. You can repair, nourish and restore.ā€

Even 30 seconds each day — a deep breath and one thing you’re thankful for — can gently support your health from the inside out.

ā˜ŗļø Calm mind → Calm gut → Better nourishment

Because healing isn’t only about what we eat…
…it’s also about the state we eat in.
