Not sure what your club, school, or sporting organisation actually needs in a Sports Medicine First Aid Kit?

You’re not alone — and getting it right matters.

A well‑equipped kit isn’t just a box of bandaids. It’s a critical part of athlete safety, risk management, and meeting your duty of care. Whether it’s junior sport, senior competition, school carnivals, or community events, having the right gear on hand can make all the difference.

Here’s what every quality Sports Medicine First Aid Kit should include:

1. Taping & Strapping Essentials
• Rigid sports tape (various widths)
• Elastic adhesive bandage (EAB)
• Underwrap / foam wrap
• Fixation tape / hypoallergenic under-tape
• Cohesive bandage (handy for quick compression or holding pads)
• Blister pads / heel lock pads / felt padding

2. Soft Tissue Injury Management
• Instant cold packs
• Reusable ice bags
• Compression bandages (light, medium, heavy)
• Triangular bandage (for slings)
• Heat rub or muscle liniment (optional depending on sport)

3. Wound Care & Bleeding Control
• Sterile saline pods
• Wound cleaning wipes
• Sterile gauze pads (various sizes)
• Combine dressings
• Non‑adherent dressings
• Adhesive wound dressings (strips, knuckle, fingertip)
• Wound closure strips
• Crepe bandages
• Gloves (nitrile)
• Antiseptic spray or solution
• Vomit bags (for heat illness or concussion symptoms)

4. Splinting & Immobilisation
• SAM splint
• Finger splints
• Rigid foam splints
• Conforming bandages
• Tape for securing splints

5. Sports-Specific Tools
• Trauma shears
• Tweezers
• CPR face shield
• Pocket mask
• Pen torch
• Thermometer (optional but useful for heat illness monitoring)
• Whistle (for crowd/field control)

6. Hydration & Cramp Management
• Electrolyte sachets (if allowed by your sport)
• Salt tablets (if appropriate for the sport)
• Magnesium spray or cream (optional)

7. Concussion & Observation Tools
• Notepad + pen
• Concussion recognition card
• Player monitoring sheet

8. Miscellaneous but Essential
• Tape cutter
• Hand sanitiser
• Small rubbish bags
• Safety pins
• Eye wash
• Sunscreen
• Insect repellent (outdoor sports)

Optional Add‑Ons for Higher-Level Coverage.

These aren’t “standard,” but they elevate your kit to a professional sports trainer level:
• Tourniquet (for major trauma environments)
• Israeli bandage / trauma dressing
• Burn gel dressings
• AED (if you’re supplying full emergency response capability)
• Stretcher

If you need help with your kit reach out and we would be happy to take a look and do a free audit of your kit.

Or if you need to restock your kit we can help with that as well.
