In TCM, Spring is the season of renewal, growth, and upward movement. 🌱

Just like the sprouts pushing through the soil, our own Qi naturally wants to rise and expand.

Eating sprouts at this time of year helps us align with the season, they lighten the body, support the Liver and Gallbladder, and encourage smooth flow of energy.

Living with the seasons means choosing foods that reflect nature’s rhythm, and sprouts are the perfect Spring food to bring freshness, vitality, and balance 🌸

Broccoli sprouts are a great choice and super easy to sprinkle on any savoury dish 👌🏼

October is International Pregnancy & Infant Loss Awareness Month 🤍

We acknowledge the heartbreak for all those families this month.

One of the best feelings In the world is the joy we see in the baby photos of families we have walked alongside in their conception & pregancy journey, but we also often feel the pain of loss on that journey too.

If you or someone you care about has lost a child to stillbirth, SIDS, or any other cause at any point during pregnancy or early infancy, October is about breaking the silence and raising awareness on a topic that often feels taboo, and leaves many families feeling lonely and isolated in their grief.

For those who wish to share, you are welcomed too, we always have space to hear your story, for those who are not ready, we quietly place loving light around you and hope the stories of others will remind you that you are not alone… so many of us walk with a tiny scar on our hearts. May you all find peace in your heart & soul, however that healing journey is for you.

When trying to conceive, recovering from long term illness, during pregnancy / postpartum or going through menopause, these are the times it is essential we are supporting our optimal vitality ☯️

This is maintaining a focus on adequate, good sources of protein in every meal, on average 30g, but 1.2-2.2g per kg of body weight is around the right range. Most people struggle to find this appropriately, it is essential for healing & building tissue. Please don’t lean into all these processed / packaged foods with ‘protein’ on the label, we need to focus on real whole foods without fillers/bulkers, processed salts, sugars and
fats. Faves are cottage cheese, collagen powder, nutritional yeast, tofu/tempeh, eggs, white fish, edamame & sprinkling different types of nuts & seeds on top of my meal which are packed with nutrients 💪🏻

Good fats are essential for egg / s***m, hormonal, brain, skin, cellular, and cardiovascular health, plus reducing inflammation - which all help with vitality during these periods of demand. Around 40-70g / day
is a good focus or 20-35% of your daily food intake.

I aim for 30% fat, 30% protein, 40% carbs for my daily intake. But figuring out those ratios is important to
consider your body type, gender, health goals and taking on the advice of your surrounding health
professionals to ensure what is best for you 🌸

Remember the rainbow when plating your food, then you probably won’t be going too far wrong! 🌈

Water is essential, we must be consuming around 30ml of water per kg of body weight to ensure our cells are getting all they need to function optimally 💦

Sleep / rest, we need good bedtime structure & hours when our body is under demand - 7/8hrs, tucked up
between 9-11pm 😴

Finally, we need to look at our environment, it needs to be clean & pure of chemicals / toxins. Think about
what you put on your skin, store your food in, what you cook in, what you clean with, these are all entering
your body in some way and we need to reduce the load of chemicals that are coming at us from our environment when healing or improving vitality.

We can’t change over night but baby steps in the right direction help our health journey 🙏🏻🤍

🌱 Spring Energy in TCM 🌱

Spring is nature’s new beginning; the season of growth, renewal, and fresh energy rising. In Chinese Medicine, this is the time of the Liver, the organ that thrives on expanding movement and flow.

Just like the sprouts and blossoms we see around us, our bodies want that same sense of lightness and expansion.

✨ Sour flavors (citrus, berries, fermented foods) help wake up and move energy.
✨ Bitter foods (greens, rocket, dandelion) help release what we no longer need.

This season, think of eating what reflects the garden in Spring ~ fresh, green, sprouting, alive 💛🌿

Nourish ~ Preserve ~ Protect

Traditional Chinese medicine is an holistic primary health care system which has been practiced for over 2500 years. At Radiant Chi we focus on nurturing life using ancient Chinese wisdom, to maintain the balance between yin and yang and support the body, mind and spirit.

Chinese medicines roots stem from Daoist philosophies that suggest that everything in the universe is part of an unbroken whole, where life arises from the interplay of opposites (Yin and Yang) and we can have a life of health and prosperity by observing nature and its natural cycles. When our bodies are in harmony with our surroundings, we are healthy and there is an abundant supply of qi (pronounced chee/chi), which is our life force or energy that runs through an unseen network of meridians across the body. If the flow of qi becomes depleted or blocked the body fails to maintain harmony or balance and then disease and illness follows.

Chinese medicine is not only used for treating disharmony in the body (disease) but was historically used for prevention over cure.

Our goal at Radiant Chi is to promote wellness for the whole family. We care about helping all our patients reach their full potential, with optimal health in their demanding modern lifestyles. By finding balance of the mind, body and spirit, it allows individuals to be more present and calm for their families and the other aspects of their lives, which lead to healthier and happier adults and better communities.
