We are a small family business located in the Limestone Coast of South Australia, about halfway between Adelaide and Melbourne. The current widely- accepted business model for horticulture involves:
- large scale monoculture reliant on synthetic fertilizers and pesticides
- produce picked before maturity and stored for extended periods
- transport to distant markets and then mis-labelled as "fresh"
- fruit with low nutrient density, poor taste and pesticide residues
We believe this system is both unsustainable, and partly responsible for declining levels of public health. We are about growing good tasting, nutrient dense, pesticide-free fruit,with animals an integral part of the production system.

We are very pleased to welcome the return of the Mount Gambier Farmers’ Market this Saturday (16th May). We’ll have plenty of Pink Ladies and Granny Smiths for sale. If you’ve bought from us before then bring along your old box and save a dollar. We’re making a fresh batch of apple juice this week so fingers crossed everyone that we’ll have some for sale on Saturday. See you all there! :-)

We would like to introduce ourselves as the new owners of Kalangadoo Organic. Rest assured we will strive to provide the same level of quality and service you have received from Chris and Michelle as we are also of the belief that local, organic farming is the way of the future. As you are aware the Farmers' Market is not currently running, however we will continue to supply local shops as well as deliveries. Farewell and thank you! After almost a quarter of a century of growing apples at Kalangadoo we are handing over the reins at the end of the month. We have so much gratitude and respect for this land, that has provided for and nourished our family and perhaps yours for many years. It has been a great privilege and we owe much to the custodians who have looked after this land for tens thousands of years before us. We would also like to thank all of you for your friendship and support over the years. We have especially loved the contact with you at the Mount Gambier Farmers Market, the Adelaide Showground Farmers Market and the Limestone Coast Farmers Market. Thanks also to all who have "wwoofed" or helped us at the orchard. And to our four kids whose childhood/teenage years were so impacted by orchard and market life. This week is our last week of picking, packing and delivering. We will post a few details soon. Take care.
