Today marks the end of our Kalaru Kookaburras Era, as we prepare for our future. A new ‘old’ home to reno a waits us in Bega and at the end of May we welcome another little babe to the family 🏡🤰🏽🥰
Lots of exciting change, we are soooo looking forward to the future and can gladly say family day care will remain apart of our lives. There is a plan to reopen in our new Bega location once renovations are complete and our newest member is settled in 🥰
It has been such a pleasure being a part of a supportive and valuable community within Bega Valley family day care the last two years, particularly with this amazing educator .parker by my side. Today our groups played the day away together and it was an absolute perfect end to a beyond perfect two years.
I can’t wait to return when the time comes 💫🤍
If you are an educator considering the role of family day care, I couldn’t urge you enough to follow this interest. If you are a parent interested in enrolling in family day care, I also couldn’t urge you enough. Please contact the Bega Valley Family Day Care office for any inquiries, the wonderful team will be most happy to assist you ✨

With shade for us all and the opportunity to engage as little or as much as possible with the girls 🐥🐥 or follow other interests with the pile of dirt… a perfect example of how extraordinary simple things can be.
The dirt pile provided opportunities for risky play, negotiation, trial and error and social skills - the dirt has dried hard. We all had to be mindful of one another, ages and abilities, and ensure safety whilst engaging our play ideas. There was a lot of skills involved to practice and I can proudly say our children utilised what they know to navigate most things without support of an educator even though we were near and available.
Our children are young, they were close to each other and all had their own ideas, this play scene was a huge success (🥹) and shows how important it is to follow children’s leads for play and program as well as providing versatile and manipulable materials for play ✨
Mean while, others took the time to find a place of calm, still and quiet to encourage chookie and chickie to feed from their hands. For some this included the practice of bravery and physically being still, being patient. The reward again, is huge! The smiles and reactions say it all as their practice pays off to have the chickens approach, stay and feed.
These positive experiences drive confidence and this is our goal, that through our purposeful, mindful choices, strategic teaching, planning and responses that our children flourish where ever they go ❤️💫🥰
It might not be everyone’s gig but I am sure grateful to spend my days this way 😇🤍 .parker ❤️

Another almost autumn progressive yet simple day spent between the gardens and dirt pit, the natural materials and spaces in our environment provide so much opportunity for imagination, collaboration and discovery 🍂✨

Cocoa, cornflour and water made our muddy farm play today. Contained in our tuff tray and added wooden pieces and flowers from around our play spaces 👌🏼👏🏼

Our paradise 🍃
We can’t stop or fight the way our now, digital world is evolving but we can control what we offer to our children. Learning about digital technology has a place and a purpose, though it’s with great pleasure that I focus on and offer a predominantly outdoor program and try to be emerged in the natural elements as much as possible 💚
Our children are only young once, let’s let them live it, enjoy it, be a child and create magic ✨

We were hands on and knee deep with team work in todays project to make a second river line, a separation at the top and a join 2/3’s down 💦👌🏼
Pushing, pulling, lifting and shovelling were some of the physical movements involved in this process.
We then also needed to use language skills to negotiate and navigate the tools including trucks and shovels to manage the task.
As well as developing awareness and mindfulness of our surrounds - who’s moving where? which way do I need to go? How do I balance on these surfaces? Will we crash if I make this choice? How do I help my peer? How can my peers help me if I’m challenged? How do i communicate what I see and feel?
For what appears to be ‘just a fun thing to do’ there is so so so much more learning then what the eye sees 👀✨🚧
Also worth a mention is how proud the children are of their skill practice. Being apart of the process, being a participant and then not only looking back on what they have accomplished but also use what they have made to continue extending ideas and ‘playing’ 🥹
