Honey is one of the top ten most counterfeited products in the world. It’s isn’t only expensive watches that people make imitations of - and just like fake watches, the scammer robs the original maker of their craft.

At Wild Coast we worship honey. It’s a pure and it’s a precious ingredient that the result of a miraculous natural process. Counterfeit honey is a cheaper and easier substitute and is found in super markets all over the world. Even in little old Australia and, is often just glorified sugar water that has been modified with flavours and dyes. Some fake honey may not even contain any bee products at all.

Have a little think about that the next time you reach for the cheapest brand on the shelf and maybe instead, come and see one of our stockist so you know exactly what your eating 🍯

It’s international women’s day. So we thought we better touch on a few epic facts of the most important women of all! 👑 🐝

The Queen Bee plays a key role in shaping the temperament of the colony, which she influences through her pheromones. If the Queen is cool calm and collected so is her hive.

She has the unique ability to lay both fertilised and unfertilised eggs. The unfertilised eggs develop into males, known as drones, while fertilised eggs can become either worker bees or queens in the making!

Happy international women’s day to all the Queen bees out there - human and insect 👑

Meet Dan -

Around seven years ago, while surfing, Daniel met Ian Millar who kept bees in a property over the road from the shed where Daniel built boats. This chance meeting turned into a weekly catch up over bees, which they later decided to turn into a business. From Ian, Daniel learned all about beekeeping including how to breed bees. His education got even deeper while he was forced to recover from back surgery after having sustained a boat-building injury. Sadly, Ian passed away two years ago, but Daniel has continued to run and grow the business but today, Daniel has around 150 beehives and 500 boxes filled with bees.

Daniel is extremely focused on creating a safe and happy environment for our bees to flourish in, and our ethos is reflected in both our sustainable approach to keeping, and our intense flavours to match. As anyone and they will tell you. Dan does the best damn honey 🍯
