You can check out my completed coat in the picture below.

'Your costume took six hours to make, three trips to the store, and resulted in a migraine. No take backs.'

How did everyone go surviving Book Week? 😅

Welcome to Book Week!

This is the result of me not organising Mr H’s costume in time. Tonight I’m piecing together a pattern to sew a jacket for Me H’s costume on Friday. I’ve made this pattern a few times but it’s been a while since I’ve made this one. So I hope there aren’t too many mistakes

Wish me luck!

thanks for teaching me this pattern all those years ago!

What costumes are your kids wearing to celebrate Book Week at your house?

I remember this day like it was yesterday! Online PT training with a difference.

This is why I love my PT Christine from Fearless Females Ipswich because nothing phases her and she gets mums. She makes me feel good and is a safe and honest place to work out in no matter where you are.

Next month she is opening her own space so if you are looking for a place to train with a woman who gets it, has space for your kids to be with you then check it out.

With Master J at school now we don’t have many sessions like this anymore 😜

Day 1 of what an epic day!!!

The morning started with breakfast at (everything is gluten free) and it was amazing.

First up was Ina May Gaskin and what a treat that was! Lots of words of wisdom and a wealth of information and history. It is incredible to think that some of the attitudes that existed in the early 19th century still prevail today.

spoke about human rights in childbirth and reminded us what it doesn’t look like in the maternity care setting and a reminder to incorporate more women on informed consent in my childbirth education.

Other highlights included sketch and sweep with an incredible take on the maternity care system in Australia represented by milk and soup!!

Hearing all about the conception of Cloak of Righteous Anger reminded me of the power of woman coming together to create change in a way that starts conversations to change.

Looking forward to the conference dinner tonight and the rest of the speakers tomorrow. It’s been a day of learning, conversations with other attendees and lots of fun. Great job .

5 years ago I undertook my training to become a postpartum doula and because it was the time of border closures and travel restrictions I did it online with the wonderful trainer Carolyn from Doula Beginnings.

Next month Carolyn is coming to Brisbane and doing in person birth and postpartum workshops! Carolyn’s training is practical, informative all whilst she creates this incredible and supportive environment. But what makes her training different is that Carolyn is there to help you with the certification so you get the job done.

If you have been thinking about becoming a doula, this is the chance. Get in contact with Carolyn and find out how you can start supporting mums in birth and postpartum. The world needs more doulas and this is your chance to become certified with the oldest and largest doula certifying organisation DONA International.

To book your spot message Carolyn at Doula Beginnings, you won’t regret it

Don't miss out on the upcoming in-person birth and postpartum workshops in Brisbane!

Message me for a complimentary chat to get all your questions answered about training and starting your doula business in 2025.

A reminder that the only person using a fetal doppler in pregnancy is a trained health professional. Anything that claims that they can help you listen to your babies heartbeat is illegal and is preying on parents anxiety. This also includes any baby movement apps, so if you have one, it’s an app you can delete.

If you have any concerns about your babies movements remember to contact your health care provider and discuss it with them.

Few things feel as good as slipping into a bed with fresh, clean sheets! Last night I got that joy, which was extra special because our washing machine had been broken for a week, but my hubby (with a part saved by my dad) fixed it. Crisis averted! Thanks hubby and dad!

As a postpartum doula, I give new parents this same feeling, changing their sheets so they can rest and recover. Wrestling with a fitted sheet is the last thing you want to do after birth.

If your baby is due in December, January, or February, now’s the time to book your postpartum care. DM me to see if I’m the right fit for your family and to tick this job off your future to-do list.

Late night/early morning spot!

If you are expecting a baby soon or just need a fit check on your installed car seat the Transurban fitting checks are great. The installers are very helpful and will give you lots of information whilst checking your seat or seats.

Spots are open for October at Forest Lake so book quickly as they book out. They will also be back in January 2026 for anyone who is expecting a baby in early 26.

Free Car Seat Checks for Families 🚗👶

Transurban, in partnership with Kidsafe Queensland, is bringing back Free Fit Fridays to Forest Lake Shopping Centre!

Every Friday in October 2025 and April 2026, families can access free car seat fittings and safety checks.

Last year, more than 1,650 car seats were checked, and 99% were installed incorrectly. A properly fitted car seat can reduce the risk of serious injury by up to 70%, so it’s worth getting yours checked by a professional.

👉 Bookings open six weeks in advance at https://www.transurban.com/kidsafeqld
Spots fill quickly, so don’t miss out.

If this is you please get in contact with Mother's Group Done Differently to help form the group in October.

👭👭💕 We’ve welcomed over 150 of the most beautiful solo mums into our community — women who’ve embraced motherhood through donor conception or adoption — and we want to help you find each other!

Every woman deserves to feel supported, seen and deeply connected on her motherhood journey. While we don’t yet have enough solo mums to form a full group, we’re gently guiding you towards the following timeslot starting next term (October):

✨ Wednesday 11am ✨

This is the best chance to connect with other solo mums who truly understand the path you’re walking. Because here at MM, we believe no mum should ever have to walk this journey alone ❤️

Some mornings we all need a Samantha from Bewitched in our lives!

Today was not a morning in the Allen household. We missed the last bus stop for Miss S, so there was a drive to school, I forgot to put Master J’s shoes on when we got in the car and didn’t have keys to get into the house so he went into school wearing socks and Mr H wasn’t having the best day.

So it was a morning but, I had many Samantha’s in my life today. A friend walked with Master J as he came to follow me, a fellow parent checked in to see if I needed help. Master J’s teacher aide took him into school when he ran down and then came back to see if I needed anything and then a friend who checked in to see how I was going.

So if you are having a day, here is some Samantha positive vibes for you. This morning I seriously considered starting to drink coffee.

Welcome to week 5 of term!

The Block is my favourite free to air tv show to view and this year Miss S and I have been watching it together.

Tonight in the recap they shared how foreman Dan and Dani shared the birth story and passing of their daughter Billie last year. Dan and Dani what a difference you have made to everyone who has lost a child, you made a lot of parents feel seen and heard. When we share our stories, no matter how painful they are, we do more to encourage others to share and support each other.

Dan and Dani thank you for all the work you are doing to raise money for The Women's Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at via : https://www.billiesbesties.com.au

What a difference you are making 💗
