Thanks to Self Love Rainbow 🌈 for this timely reminder.

Hopefully you are able to keep calm during the silly season. If that's not possible, notice what's happening for you, what does it feel like in your body, take a moment to acknowledge what comes up, what feelings might come with the sensations, and then breathe through them.
When it has passed, check if there is anything you can change or pull back from to prevent the overwhelm.

Ideas: go for a walk, get into nature, have a dip in water, listen to a song, adjust expectations.

What strategies work for you?

Tomorrow is Fathers' Day in Australia - the first Sunday in September. In Europe, the United States and in other countries this day is celebrated on the third Sunday in June, while in some Countries, Fathers Day coincides with St Joseph's Day (March 19th).
Not everyone is able to bring their dad breakfast in bed, or take him out for lunch. And everyone's situation is different.

If this is your first Fathers' Day without your dad, you might like to plan to do something special for yourself, whether that's making yourself a special meal, watching your favourite movies, or visiting somewhere that will uplift you.

If someone you love has recently lost a parent, Fathers' Day is one of those days that really needs a check-in. It doesn't have to be a lot, but a quick text or phone call can mean the world to someone who is in grief.

I'll be sending my own Dad some love as I go about my day, checking in with Mum like he would want - and possibly getting involved in some live poetry, as well as doing some baking. (And, of course, celebrating with the father of my own kids💛💚)

And if you are lucky enough to have a good relationship with your Dad while he's here on earth, celebrate him in whatever way feels best for you both.

Invitation to

“Honouring Your Grief”

A Mindfulness of Grief Retreat

on the Central Coast

2023 Dates:

Sunday 2nd July

Sunday 10th September

Saturday 9th December

Hi ,

Did you know that there are many different kinds of grief and the ways people do grief?

What is grief?
Grief is a natural response to loss. It’s the emotional suffering you feel when something or someone you love is taken away. Often, the pain of loss can feel overwhelming. You may experience all kinds of difficult and unexpected emotions, from shock or anger to disbelief, guilt, and profound sadness. The pain of grief can also disrupt your physical health, making it difficult to sleep, eat, or even think straight. These are normal reactions to loss—and the more significant the loss, the more intense your grief will be.

Coping with the loss of someone or something you love is one of life’s biggest challenges. You may associate grieving with the death of a loved one—which is often the cause of the most intense type of grief—but any loss can cause grief, including:

Divorce or relationship breakup
Estrangement of children or parents
Loss of health or mobility
Losing a job or being made redundant
Loss of financial stability or security
Loss of a business
A miscarriage
Retirement
Death of a pet
Loss of a cherished dream
A loved one's serious illness
Loss of a friendship
Loss of safety after a trauma or DV
Selling the family home
Loss of sense of self
Loss to su***de
Loss to disease

Even subtle losses in life can trigger a sense of grief. For example, you might grieve after moving away from home, graduating from college, or changing jobs.

Whatever your loss, it's personal to you, so don't feel ashamed about how you feel, or believe that it's somehow only appropriate to grieve for certain things. If the person, animal, relationship, or situation was significant to you, it's normal to grieve the loss you're experiencing. Whatever the cause of your grief, though, there are healthy ways to cope with the pain that, in time, can ease your sadness and help you come to terms with your loss, find new meaning, and eventually move on with your life.
