Love this quote in describing what can happen with trauma.
I recently completed Physiotherapy Trauma Informed Practice training with a pilot program running through St Vincent's Hospital, Melbourne.
The research and statistics are now showing how trauma is linking to risks of other physical health concerns (conditions such as cancer and even increased fracture risk).
For us in Australia, it is estimated 3/4 of the population has experienced trauma. That's a decent chunk!
In my practice, I see the effects of trauma in the body. The overwhelming stress that occurs with trauma can present in ways such as muscle bracing and tension, but other times as collapse or low tone in the muscles. Patterns of response can also occur, such as the fight/flight/freeze. Often people who have had these patterns for a long time usually present with pain, and in multiple areas.
I offer a unique approach and work can be hands-on or hands-off depending on what you and your body needs π Particularly with trauma, there is a need to give the body enough time, titration and slowness for healing to occur.
Keep up hope ππ
