I joined a craft club, and then I almost stayed home.
I had a huge âto-do listâ staring at me, and that familiar voice in my head was whispering that a craft club was a luxury I didnât have time for. To be honest, it wasnât just the list, it was the social anxiety of starting something new. That nervous feeling of being out of my comfort zone and meeting a group of people I didnât know.
But I went anyway.
And it was the most productive thing Iâve done all month. Not because I ticked anything off my list, but because the room was filled with incredible women who were all there for the exact same reason: to breathe, to create, and to just be.
We keep hearing that self-care isnât just bubble baths and face masks, but we rarely talk about what it actually is. Itâs a nervous system reset. Itâs the act of intentionally moving out of âSurvival Modeââwhere we are just reactingâand moving into a state of regulation.
And the bridge to get there? Joy.
Joy isnât just another âjobâ to add to your list; it is the fuel that allows your body to settle. For me, that reset is still a work in progress! But I realised something last week: I cannot co-regulate a child from an empty cup. When we choose things that make us feel alive, we arenât being selfish. We are becoming the anchor our children need to lean on.
The âPerfect Mumâ is a myth. But a Steady Mum? That is someone our kids can actually connect with.
Stop pouring. Start blooming. đ¸
If youâre ready to fill your cup alongside your child, Iâd love to see you at our next Mini & Me Bloom Bar. Letâs find that steadiness together.
