Are you aware of Bill Shorten's proposed changes to NDIS funding? Are you finding it difficult to understand? Here is the breakdown:
ELIGIBILITY:
- If its more appropriate for someone with autism/psychosocial disability to be funded by another government service, they might receive foundational supports instead.
- Eligibility is not dependent on particular medical conditions, but the determined level of functional impairment.
- Information gathering will be changed
- The NDIA has the power to request certain information from participants if they are considering revoking eligibility. If the relevant information is not provided, eligibility can and will be voided.
BUDGETS:
- Funding will be based on what is necessary for participants to live a long and fulfilling life.
- Funding is not divided into 'primary' and 'secondary' disability anymore, it is based on overall needs.
- Participants will receive an entire budget, instead of individual line items.
