✨Midwife at Your Door Series - Fireside Chat 1✨

Our AMAZING Friend & Fellow Birth Worker Danae Specialised Birth Doula, Pregnancy Yoga🤩 has created a Series called ‘Midwife at Your Door’, that showcases the work that we do as Privately Practicing Endorsed Midwives in The Nesting Hub, in providing Continuity of Midwifery Care and Homebirthing across Sydney & the Surrounding Areas 💜.

Danae’s intention is to highlight our Private Midwifery Model of Care for potential clients, their families, other birth workers, health professionals & beyond…..and, in doing so, she also hopes to:

✨Promote Homebirth as a safe and outstanding model of care.

✨ Showcase Private Midwives exceptional clinical skills and introduce each midwife, their background, their personality and their philosophy.

✨ Give parents to be an easy resource to properly understand this model of care and to get to know Private Midwives.

✨ Give birth workers (doulas, bodyworkers, therapists and midwives etc) an easy resource to share with parents, thus bridging the knowledge and understanding gap and reducing hesitation in reaching out to Private Midwives for more information.

, we had LOTS of Fun recording this, you are an absolute natural in front of the camera, and we are grateful for our inclusion in your baby, ‘Midwife at Your Door’. Thanks as well to the wonderful Kitty from , to Alec & to your beloved Mum too!!! It was The Loveliest Afternoon together and we can’t wait to see the whole series play out in the coming days, weeks & months 🤩👌🏻.

We Absolutely LOVE what we do!!!! & we feel truly blessed to journey at home with the most Phenomenal Women, Birthing People, Babies, Couples, Families, Midwives, Doulas & each Birth Support Team. The memories that we make together are unique, special & memorable. Midwifery is a work of love, we are all passionate about what we do, the people we journey alongside & for us, Midwifery is The Answer 💜💜💜.

✨🕯️Wave of Light🕯️✨

Wave of Light is an opportunity to unite with bereaved parents, families, friends, fellow midwives & other healthcare professionals around the globe, to commemorate each of the precious babies who sadly died too soon 💔.

This time of remembrance takes place at 7pm on 15th October every year, and we as The Nesting Hub midwives will light a candle for the babies who were deeply loved, who fought so hard to stay & who were devastatingly lost 😔💔.

We remember each of you, we unite with you, we hold time & space for you, and we send the biggest of hugs to surround you & your loved ones at this time too✨💜.

In almost 5 Years, since The Nesting Hub was born…..,this is THE VERY FIRST sharps container that has reached its maximum fill line 🤩🙌🏻👌🏻. I think this says A LOT about the way that we work, the medications we administer & the people who choose our model of maternity care.

We are safe, skilled & experienced homebirth midwives 🤩🙌🏻👌🏻, who support normal physiology.

In EVERY BIRTH….

✨ We bring along ‘Just in Case’ MEDICATIONS (and we hardly ever need to administer them)

✨ We bring a fully-stocked birth kit, along-with the means to medicalise, if required…..and, we hardly ever need to use anything.The most replaced item in our birth kit is actually our large absorbent sheets that help to contain amniotic fluid (before birth) & a little blood (after birth). How good is that?! 🤩

✨ We bring Resuscitative Equipment, Oxygen & Updated Skills & Knowledge to provide Life - Saving Emergency Treatment at Home, should that ever be required, and in almost 5 years, we have administered a little Oxygen to 3 babies, and so far (touch wood), we have NEVER needed to perform Cardiac Compressions on a Mum or Baby in our care across that time.

Homebirth IS Safe

At The Nesting Hub, we pride ourselves in providing antenatal & postnatal visits in our clients homes, at days & times that work best for them & in an environment where they feel most relaxed 💟💟.

Kate’s recent antenatal visit on Scotland Island was truly magical. The weather was divine, and the togetherness with her client was pretty perfect too 💜.

How lucky are we to do the work that we do as Endorsed Midwives?! …how blessed are we to journey with the most wonderful women, couples & families?!…and, how fortunate are we to live in Sydney?! 💜

This Weekend, we sat in circle together in the Shamanic Dimensions of Pregnancy workshop with Jane Hardwicke Collings (). It absolutely warmed our hearts & souls as Nesting Hub Midwives to share this time with like-minded, inspirational women✨💜.

We laughed, we cried, we learned, we felt, we heard, we held space & we offered support 💛. In doing so, we reflected extensively upon our own birth imprints and we explored how this has affected how we have birthed our lives, managed our careers & projects, how we have cared for our children & families, while looking after the women & families in our care 🩷. Throughout our day together, Jane also highlighted the importance of looking after ourselves….and, as 24/7 on-call homebirth midwives, we know only too well how imperative that self-care is.

We now have a deeper understanding of nourishing our fertility, our embodiment and our generative capacity. We discussed the current culture around labour & birth and how to navigate it positively, for the greater good. This included giving ourselves permission to let go of any fear, to encourage surrender, and to manage any anxieties and inner obstacles encountered on the journey through pregnancy, labour, birth & beyond.

….and, all the while, we weaved our individual Ojo de Dios (God’s Eye), which we will treasure as a momento of our special day together.

It was SO GREAT to spend this Saturday morning with Jazz, at her Book Tour at Bubbadesk within WOTSO Workspace Pyrmont.

To hear Jazz & her expert panel / book contributors talk so openly about the topics that matter most to them was so inspiring & heartwarming ….and, to be reunited with fellow Midwife, Friend & Nesting Hub Client Hannah & her beautiful Miss C too was So, So FANTASTIC as well.

Thank you so much to you Jazz, , and to your beautiful Mum, to Hannah, your host , your panel , , & .food.bible ….and thank you to all of the wonderful Mums & Bubs who crossed my path today too!!

✨Hands✨ by Jan Weingrad

These are my hands 🙌🏻.

Through these hands I have come to see the world. These hands have measured the growth of life and documented the stalling of time.

They guide my ears to places where I hear the watch-like beat of tiny hearts. My hands have felt the hard bony framework of passages and the softness of muscles which will bulge like petals of a rose.

My hands have opened windows to the energy of the souls of those I have touched. They have held the frigid rigidity of steel instruments and the softness of a friend.

There are stories in these hands, read from the pages of the work of women.
With my hands, I felt the power of the strength it takes to grow and release new spirit. My hands were born with the knowing of touch. The journey has added how and when and the time to ask for help.

Teaching hands engulfed mine until they were ready to fly. My hands are joined in a circle which is unbroken through time. Sometimes my hands do nothing; their most important work will be still with fingers laced and witness the ‘art of doing nothing’ has been passed from one generation to the next.

Mine have been taught by some of the most powerful hands, to watch and to wait. This is perhaps the hardest for hands that are born to touch.

If I have nothing else to give you, let me teach you how to see with your hands. How to open the windows of life, and close the door softly when it is time ✨. In the darkness, it is your hands that will light the way.

Today, we Send Father’s Day Love & Hugs to ALL Dads, to our Nesting Hub Dads, to the Dads to Be, to those who step into the role of Dad, to those who are both Mum & Dad, to those who hope to become a Dad, to those who have lost their Dad & to those who have a difficult relationship with their Dad. Our thoughts and love surround each and every one of you ♥️.

This is Continuity of Midwifery Care in the Home, where we provide clinical assessments of mums & their babies, where we provide education & support….and where we chat with you individually, as a couple & as a family, about ALL aspects of this new chapter in life we are sharing together 🤗♥️.

This is So Beautiful ✨, and as Midwives, we just LOVE what we do.

Thank you so much for inviting me on this journey Sabrina & Brynn . It has been so wonderful 🥰….and, having dog Ernie along for the ride too has been such fun as well.
