💙 A huge thank you to our amazing team! 💙

We’re so proud of the effort everyone put into fundraising for The March Charge. Through dedication, teamwork and a lot of kilometres, our team raised over $100 for cancer research and clocked up more than ***160*** kilometres combined – all for an important cause.

🌟Special mention to staff member Abbe who went above and beyond for this challenge, completing 100% of her 100km goal for the month of March🌟

🌿Welcome Dr Luke English to Kangaroo Island Medical Clinic

We’re delighted to introduce Dr Luke English, who will be joining our team as an ACRRM GP Registrar, working across Kangaroo Island Medical Clinic and Kangaroo Island Health Service (on a rotating schedule) from February 2026.

🌟Dr Luke brings over a decade of emergency medicine experience, including senior consultant roles at Mt Barker Emergency Department, and extensive work across Flinders Medical Centre, the Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Alice Springs, and multiple rural and remote settings.

His training spans advanced life support, trauma care, paediatric emergencies, critical care, airway management, and ultrasound, and he has completed all major components of advanced Emergency Medicine fellowship training.

Beyond his clinical skills, Dr Luke is known for his compassion, clinical excellence, and commitment to teaching — recognised through several awards including Intern of the Year and Excellence in Clinical Teaching. He has also volunteered overseas in the Solomon Islands emergency department as part of “Team Flinders.”

What truly inspires us is his strong passion for supporting rural communities and delivering high‑quality, patient‑centred care. We know he’ll be a wonderful addition to the island’s health team and a friendly, steady presence for our community.

🌿 Meet Our Medical Student: Alice Esposito 🌿

You may have already seen Alice, our 3rd year Flinders University medical student, around the clinic — and she’ll soon be starting co consults with our GPs, so you may notice her a little more during your visits.

Alice grew up in Hobart, Tasmania, before moving interstate to pursue study. Before entering medicine, she completed a Bachelor of Health & Medical Sciences at the University of Adelaide and spent time working as a disability support worker — an experience that strengthened her passion for healthcare and community centred work.

Outside of study, Alice enjoys being outdoors, catching live music, reading, cheering on the Tillies and the Hawks, and is even reteaching herself bass guitar.

Alice has really enjoyed living and studying rurally, and hopes to continue her career in rural medicine. She’s keeping an open mind about specialty pathways — but has a soft spot for paediatrics and loves working with kids.

KI Medical Clinic will be very restricted on appointment accessibility this week due to last minute emergency changes to the doctors availabilities, meaning we are only operating with a limited number of medical staff on site. As a result, appointments will be extremely limited.

🔵Please be patient with our staff as we try to navigate how to best serve our community🔵

🔹 If your appointment is non-urgent, please consider rescheduling for a later date.
🔹 In an emergency, call 000 or present to the Kangaroo Island Health Service immediately.
