IBS Burnout is real 💚

During IBS Awareness Month, we want to talk about something that doesn’t get spoken about enough: burnout.

Feeling tired of thinking about food, symptoms, planning, avoiding, explaining 😫 Not to mention the psychological impact on self esteem, motivation and relationships! IBS can be exhausting, physically AND mentally 🫠

It’s common, and it’s nothing to be ashamed of.

At FODMAPPED, we see you. And we want you to know you don’t have to push through it alone.

If you’re feeling burnt out, it might be time to lean on support. Whether that’s a dietitian, your GP, people you trust, or the IBS community around you. Having the right support can make a huge difference.

Be gentle with yourself. And remember, it’s okay to ask for help 💚

If you've eaten a few too many Easter Eggs too, here are our top tips for managing gut symptom flare ups:

💚 Get back to basics! Eat simple, small meals until symptoms resolve
💚 Use a heat pack, warm bath or gentle massage to ease discomfort
💚 Some gentle movement like walking or stretching may help ease symptoms
💚 Take time for self care and relaxation to calm your gut via the mind-gut connection
💚 Avoid gut irritants for the time being, like alcohol, caffeine or spicy foods
💚 Most of all, show yourself kindness! You've got this
