👩🏻‍⚕️Have you been formally diagnosed with IBS?
It’s important to rule out other serious gut health conditions like Coeliac Disease or Inflammatory Bowel Disease, as the low FODMAP diet may not help with managing the symptoms caused by these other conditions. It’s also important to work with your medical team to manage these conditions if you are affected!

📚Are you accidentally FODMAP Stacking?
Even though the individual food items you’re eating might only contain a small amount of FODMAPs that wouldn’t cause symptoms in isolation, when added up they could be a recipe for an IBS flare up! We recommend using apps such as the FODMAP Friendly app or Monash FODMAP app to help ensure you’re not stacking

🙈Are there hidden FODMAPs in what you’re eating?
Ingredient lists can be tough to understand! Could there be high FODMAP ingredients hidden in foods that appear to be IBS friendly? Or potentially, if you’re eating out there could be high FODMAP ingredients added to dishes without you realising. �

🍷What about other gut irritants?
Caffeine, alcohol, spicy foods and fatty/greasy foods can irritate the gut, and contribute to those familiar feelings of IBS discomfort

✅ Are you following the diet completely?
Following the elimination phase completely is the best way to go! Depending on your tolerance, even a tiny amount of FODMAPs might be enough to wreak havoc and trigger your symptoms
