Skin checks are an important part of early detection and prevention of skin cancer, especially in Australia where rates of skin cancer are among the highest in the world.

Appointments are now available with Dr Marita Jones. During your consultation, Dr Marita will carefully assess your skin, review any concerns, and provide guidance on ongoing skin health and sun safety.

We are thrilled to introduce you to the newest GP to the team - Dr Malcolm Braddock

Malcolm grew up locally and completed his medical training in Tasmania. He has a particular interest in acute care, chronic disease management and preventative healthcare. Malcolm is working Monday and Wednesday at Lauderdale and part time at the Lindisfarne Clinic. Outside of work he enjoys the Hobart food scene, cooking, skiing and surfing.

Malcolm started at the clinic today running our first flu clinic for the season with a whopping 150 flu vaccinations delivered!

We’re thrilled to have him on board and know he'll make a great addition to the team.

Flu Vaccination or the FluMist Nasal Spray option for kids

With flu season around the corner, we’re running flu clinics in April with two options for children:

1. Free Flu Vaccinations
Under the current guidelines, the flu injection is free for:
✅ All children aged 6 months to under 5 years.
✅ Children of any age with certain medical conditions (e.g. severe asthma, diabetes, or heart disease).
✅ All Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children.

2. The "No-Needle" Option: FluMist Nasal Spray
Does your child dread needles? FluMist is a nasal spray that provides the same high level of protection as the traditional flu shot.
Who: Suitable for children and teens aged 2–17 years.
Why: Quick, painless, and stress-free.
Cost: While FluMist is not government-funded in Tasmania, it is available at our clinic for $50 per dose.

Which one is right for my child?
Both the nasal spray and the injection are equally effective at protecting your child against the flu this winter. Whether you choose the free vaccine or the needle-free spray, the goal is the same: a healthy, happy winter!

🎉Last week we celebrated Lauderdale Medical Centre's 1st Birthday!🎉

Since opening, we’ve have provided 25,000 episodes of patient care with over 6000 patients now registered with the clinic.

This is the incredible team behind rebuilding a community centred General Practice. We also couldn’t have done it without the enduring support of our community.

With 8 of our 10 doctors still accepting new patients, we also have on-the-day appointments available everyday.

Annual Flu Clinic Vaccinations 💉

It’s that time of year again and we’re ready to get you vaccinated to help your family stay healthy this flu season!

Our flu clinic will be open, and appointments are now available for the 21st and 28th of April with more dates to follow.

Patients eligible at Lauderdale Medical Centre for a free vaccine include:
- Children aged 6 months to less than 5 years old
- People aged 65 years and over
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
- Pregnant women

Otherwise, we offer private flu vaccines at the cost of $20.00.

Welcome Dr. Ajda Arsan to the Lauderdale Medical Centre.

Ajda is a GP registrar currently completing her training in rural and remote medicine, with advanced skills training in emergency medicine. She enjoys caring for patients across all stages of life and is particularly passionate about women’s health, including early pregnancy care and reproductive health. Ajda has completed a postgraduate diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and values providing kind, holistic, and patient-centred care, while building strong, long-term relationships with her patients. When she’s not at work, Ajda is hopefully out camping, hiking, surfing, or cooking up a big meal to share with friends and family.

We’re thrilled to have her on board and know she’ll make a great addition to the team. Dr Arsan will be working four days a week at the Lauderdale Medical Centre and is accepting new patients from the start of February

Welcome Dr. Caitriona O’Sullivan to the Lauderdale Medical Centre.

We’re delighted to introduce Dr. Caitriona O’Sullivan, a dedicated and compassionate GP registrar who has joined our growing team.

Originally from Ireland, Caitriona completed her medical studies at University College Dublin in 2019 before immigrating to Australia in 2020. She has worked in rural and regional areas across Australia and brings a wealth of experience across a variety of medical specialties. She is passionate about providing patient-centred care and building strong relationships within the community. Her specialist interest include chronic disease management, preventative health and family medicine care.

Outside of work Dr. O'Sullivan enjoys training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Gaelic football with her local club.

We’re thrilled to have her on board and know she’ll make a fantastic addition to the team. Dr O'Sullivan will be working Wednesday to Friday at the Lauderdale Medical Centre and is accepting new patients from the start of February

We are thrilled to introduce you to the newest GP to the team - Dr David Burton

David brings a rich background in medicine, having completed his studies at the University of Otago, New Zealand.
He takes pride in offering comprehensive care across a broad spectrum of health needs. He holds particular expertise in skin cancer detection, with a certificate in dermatoscopy – especially valuable given Tasmania's high UV exposure. His dedication to mental healthcare is demonstrated through his certificate in Primary Care Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, enabling him to provide high-quality support for patients managing anxiety and depression.

David is passionate about health equity and finds fulfillment in delivering compassionate, effective care that makes a tangible difference in his patients' lives. He values the daily variety of general practice and the meaningful connections he builds with patients. In his spare time, he loves going to gigs, have dinners with friends, trail running and bike-packing.
David will be joining us on the 3rd of November 2025 working Monday to Friday.

We are thrilled to introduce you to the newest GP to the team - Dr Kirsty O'Neill 🤩

Initially trained in the United Kingdom and have worked across Australia in both regional and city settings. With a broad international background and over 15 years of medical experience, Dr O'Neill brings a strong foundation in emergency, paediatrics, anaesthetics, and rural health.

Her career has included service in West Africa as well as several years with the Australian Army!

She is passionate about supporting rural communities and is committed to long-term practice in Tasmania. Dr O'Neill is currently in the process of completing her Fellowship with the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine. Outside of medicine, she enjoys hiking and bush care 🌿

Currently Dr O'Neill is working Thursdays and Fridays at Lauderdale Medical Centre.
